Many thanks to the ACT Parks and Conservation Service for their fuel reduction activities on the Jerrabomberra Avenue verge last week. The works included the removal of non-native wattles and woody weeds. When notified of the fuel reduction work some weeks ago, we wrote to the ACT Government asking if it would undertake follow-up rabbit control activities – building on the operations undertaken last year. We have not yet heard back from the Government and will be making further enquiries in the coming week. On a less positive note, there has been renewed firebug activity on the verge, with three fires lit in the past month including one last week which required the attendance of ACT Fire and Rescue personnel. If you notice any unusual activity in proximity to the Club, please let us know ([email protected]) and call the relevant emergency service if life or property is at risk.
