🐱 What Is FIV? Understanding the “Cat AIDS” Virus 💉

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) affects a cat’s immune system, making them more vulnerable to infections. It’s often misunderstood — but with the right care, many FIV+ cats live long, healthy lives.

🧬 How is FIV spread?
Mainly through deep bite wounds, which means outdoor, unneutered males are most at risk.

🚨 Signs of FIV can include:
🔹 Weight loss
🔹 Recurrent infections (especially in the mouth or gums)
🔹 Poor coat condition
🔹 Fever
🔹 Lethargy
🔹 Swollen lymph nodes

🔬 There’s no cure, but FIV+ cats can thrive with:
✔️ A stress-free, indoor-only lifestyle
✔️ Good nutrition
✔️ Routine vet visits
✔️ Prompt treatment of any illness

😻 FIV is not a death sentence — just a diagnosis that needs awareness and care.

📣 If your cat goes outdoors, talk to us about testing and prevention.

Is Your Dog’s Heart Healthy? Let’s Make Sure!

Heart disease affects millions of dogs, and just like in humans, early detection is key. Some dogs show no signs until the condition is serious — so regular vet visits are a must!

🩺 Common heart conditions in dogs:
🔹 Mitral Valve Disease (MVD) – especially in small breeds
🔹 Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) – common in larger breeds
🔹 Congenital heart defects

🚨 Signs to watch for:
🔸 Persistent cough
🔸 Fatigue or unwillingness to exercise
🔸 Difficulty breathing or rapid breathing at rest
🔸 Fainting or collapse
🔸 Swollen belly (due to fluid buildup)

🐕 Breeds like Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Dobermans, and Boxers are at higher risk.

❤️ Regular checkups, chest X-rays, and heart ultrasounds can catch problems early — often before symptoms appear.
