Diabetes is a disease caused by a lack of insulin, the hormone that regulates how sugar is absorbed and used by the cells within the body. It is most often seen in dogs between the ages of 5 and 7, with female dogs being more susceptible than males. Every dog is unique, but keeping an eye out for irregularities in your dog’s behavior is key to determining if your dog may be at risk. To prevent your pup from contracting parvo, it is essential to get them vaccinated. A puppy’s first set of vaccinations happen at 6 weeks old with another two at 9 and 12 weeks.
