Coggins season is approaching.

A Coggins test is a vital blood test used to identify Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA), a possibly fatal viral disease in horses, ponies, mules, and donkeys. It is mandatory in all fifty states to travel and requires annual renewal.

If you do not currently possess a global vet link account, it is advisable to establish one. This ensures that all owner information and horse demographics are current, and provides 24/7 access to your Coggins - this should eliminate the necessity of searching for your paper Coggins on horse show mornings.

Should you wish to provide updated photographs, kindly adhere to the following protocol: three images are required, one each of the entire left side, entire right side, and one of the face, including muzzle and ears. Each leg must be visible up to the coronets. The horse should occupy approximately 90% of the image, with minimal human content. Please ensure this is done while the horse is wearing a halter but no tack.

Dr. Jill Acland recently traveled West to see Dr. John Lee in New Mexico and volunteer with Native American Veterinary Services on the Hopi Reservation in Arizona! Dr. Acland had a great visit with our practice founder and her long time mentor while helping the team provide preventative care and dentistry for the reservation residents and their horses.
