Hard bones or antlers can pose significant risks for dogs, including dental damage like fractured teeth, choking hazards from splintering, and potential intestinal blockages or punctures from swallowed fragments. Even if bones don't break, they can cause injuries to the mouth and digestive tract.

✏️🍎The return to school can be stressful for pets used to constant companionship. 🏫🎓
It may be a good idea to start acclimating your pet to being alone or not having the kids at home during the days now. Begin by practicing short periods of separation to gradually get them used to it. Set up a safe area for your pet, like a small room or an open crate, equipped with comfortable bedding and their favorite toys. Once they’re at ease when you/kids are in another room, start leaving them in their designated space when you step outside or leave the house. Teaching them to spend time alone now may help prevent separation anxiety when the school year begins.

Ease them into the upcoming new routine gradually. You should start easing your pet into their new routine at least two weeks before school year begins. Gradually introduce your pet to the new schedule. If you have a dog, wake up early, take them for a long walk and engage them in activities they can do when they’re home alone. Getting everyone used to the new routine in advance will make the adjustment period smoother and help your pet acclimate to the new schedule before they face the added stress of being left home alone.

One of the major benefits of spaying your female dog and cat is to prevent them from getting something called "pyometra", which is an infection in the uterus. If left untreated, it can lead to sepsis and death.

*Symptoms of Pyometra*

~Discharge: A bloody, pus-like or foul-smelling discharge can be a sign of open pyometra.
~Lethargy and Depression: Affected dogs may seem unusually tired, withdrawn, or depressed.
~Loss of Appetite: Reduced food intake is a common symptom.
~Increased Thirst and Urination: Dogs may drink and urinate more than usual.
~Abdominal Pain or Distension: The abdomen may be painful or appear swollen.
~Fever: A fever may indicate a systemic infection.
~Vomiting: Vomiting can also occur.
~Closed Pyometra: In cases of closed pyometra, you may not see any discharge, and symptoms may be more acute, potentially including severe lethargy, vomiting, and abdominal bloating.

Some dangerous bbq foods for your pets include:
- Corn cobs (obstruction/choking)
- Chicken/Ribs (can splinter)
