Cats are notoriously finicky eaters. Just like humans, the texture, temperature, odor, and flavor of food are strong influences on a cat’s food preferences! While every cat is a unique individual with different nutritional needs, some harmful foods should always be avoided:
- Dairy containing lactose (Yep!)
- Chocolate
- Onions
- Garlic
- Grapes/Raisins
- Alcohol and caffeinated drinks

Hi 👋 it's me, Italy!

I know you've seen my face a lot around here. I've been at Treetops Kitty Cafe since October 12, 2022. That's right; a whole 231 days without a home. I'm silly, loving, and incredibly entertaining. My personality has mellowed a lot since I've been here and I'm reaching the best version of myself. The last piece to the puzzle is a dedicated home!

Yesterday, I experienced something scary. I had a mild cardiac event that caused me to stumble a bit. My caretaker took me to see the vet (boy, was I scared!). The vet found a problem with my heart, so I got to see the cardiologist during the same visit. What a day! Here's what the cardiologist said:
I have a condition called Feline Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. The severity is moderate but I also have an arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat). It sounds really big and scary, but really it just means I need some inexpensive medication once per day. You may have heard of it before because one of my roommates, Cheddar, is also taking the exact same thing!
Since I'm only a year and a half old and already show symptoms of my condition, I might not live as long as other cats. That's okay though, because I know my time on earth will be well-spent if someone wants to adopt me! Taking me to see a cardiologist every 6 months and staying on top of my medication is the best way to help me live longer. I need a home without kids or dogs. I like kids, but I don't want their hearts to be broken when my time comes. I can live with non-aggressive, non-territorial male cats who are proven to be cat-friendly. I'm a little sassy, so my future feline pal must be tolerant of my antics!

I know that I'll be a burden and my life may not be long, but I have so much love to give and I really need to find my home as fast as possible. My adoption fee is sponsored, meaning you won't need to shell out a penny to adopt me. Please save that money for the vet care I'll need after you bring me home. I'm even open to a serious foster-to-adopt opportunity.
Please consider giving me a home! Email inquiries to [email protected]

Today, and every day, we remember the brave men and women who paid the ultimate price to protect our freedom. Their sacrifice serves as a timeless reminder that freedom isn't free. We are forever indebted to them.

On this Memorial Day, may we come together as a nation to honor, remember, and express our deepest gratitude to our fallen heroes. May their memory be a source of inspiration and a reminder of the strength and unity that defines us as a nation.

POCOPSON VET BULLETIN REGARDING RESPIRATORY OUTBREAK!!

*In recent weeks, we have detected an abnormally high number of cases of influenza in dogs from our region.

*Recent sequencing points to H3N2 canine influenza strain which has been reported to infect cats; current transmissibility is unknown.

*While clinical signs may be similar to bordetellosis/kennel cough, the primary viral infection will NOT respond to antimicrobial therapy.

*Veterinary clinics can attempt to identify cases prior to entrance into a facility and prevent mixing with general patient populations.

*Vaccine is currently unavailable.

*We are encouraging clients and employees to avoid multi-pet situations (i.e. dog parks, boarding facilities) while cases are high and asymptomatic shedding is highly likely.

More information can be found at the AVMA and Cornell Animal Health Diagnostic Center websites.

Our vet, Pocopson Veterinary Station, has this adorable kitty for adoption! He can't live with other pets, but he's a total doll. Please contact them if you're interested!
Sending our thoughts and prayers to everyone at Pocopson Vet.
We ordered food for Sulley from the online pharmacy and they sent the wrong bag. Sulley eats the RCVD K 9 Gastrointestinal High Fiber 17LB food and they sent the LOW FAT. I spoke to the pharmacy today and they are refunding us for that bag and are waiting for approval from you for the correct food. Hoping that can be approved and we can get the new food as Sulley is completely out and not eating what we have.
When you have been involved in rescue for as long as our Directors have been you understand the importance of a village. There is no doubt our wonderful village extended Phoebe’s quality of life. The support we received for Phoebe has been phenomenal and we are so grateful. First and foremost, her foster home amazed us on a daily basis. Despite many nights of lost sleep and many interrupted schedules they never complained and were always looking for more ways to improve Phoebe’s life over their own. We’d also like to acknowledge the following individuals who helped to enhance our girl’s life.

Dr. Rachel Dialectos and the team at Wyomissing Animal Hospital
Pocopson Veterinary Station
Kellie Wensing - Petco Grooming, Pottstown
Sarah McKillip - The House That Fur Built
Mary Ann Geoff - The Mutt Hutt
Kelly Cabot-Armour - The Virtuous Dog
Shelly Young Lewis who generously donated diabetic supplies
Our social media friends and family who provided so much support and encouragement
Our friends that donated to support her care
Phoebe’s fans who frequently visited public events when they knew Phoebe would be there

On behalf of the ASR Board of Directors, we thank you all!
Is is pain or is it just Monday?

It's National Veterinary Day and we'd like to thank all of the wonderful vets that work with us to keep our guests healthy. Veterinary care is a huge part of our intake process and we appreciate the practices that work with us. Wyomissing Animal Hospital Pocopson Veterinary Station Thank you from all of the ASR dogs!
Pork Chop is resting comfortably in foster care with the Cafe’s assistant manager.

She earned a certificate of courage from Pocopson Veterinary Station for her bravery in surgery today!

Unfortunately, Porky’s inner ear mass had grown so large it actually ruptured her eardrum, which caused a lot of bleeding the other day that led us to have her checked out. The mass has been mostly removed and biopsies are being sent out. We’re hoping the mass is benign. 🤞🏻

In addition to the mass removal, Porky had a few teeth extracted.

More unfortunate news came during a pre-op exam, however. Porky’s knees were very swollen and after an x-ray, it seems she has pretty severe arthritis. Considering she is overweight and very sedentary, all of this made a lot of sense.

At this time, Porky will be considered a special needs adoption. She is absolutely available for adoption and we will require impeccable veterinary references for anyone interested in adopting her. This sweet girl needs a loving home that will help her be as comfortable as possible for the length of her life (however long that may be)!

We are still collecting donations to help pay for Porky’s surgery And impending medical bills. Please continue to share/donate and email [email protected] if you would be interested in sponsoring Porky until adopted.

Until she returns to the Cafe, she is happy and purring in her own recovery suite. She is such a love! Shown here purring and kneading the towel in her cave. She is a true love bug and would be a wonderful addition to someone’s home.
Our sweet sweet Porky is undergoing surgery today at Pocopson Veterinary Station to remove a mass in her ear. Prior to Treetops, Porky was notorious for chronic ear infections and it was treated topically and never investigated further. We found out she has a mass and we’re not sure how bad it is yet. She will also be having some extensive dental work done. Thoughts for our little Pork Chop!

Her vet bills total about $400.

Can you help us out? Every little bit helps. Please share and like this post to help draw attention! Thank you for your support!
Our new arrival, Blondie just came back from a visit at Pocopson Veterinary Station and she's very sleepy!

We hope Blondie will be out soon, but we're allowing her to take some time to acclimate to her new surroundings. She arrived on 2/13 after getting her shots and check-up. When we let her out this morning to explore the Cafe, she started to limp and we got very worried about her, so...off to the vet! Pocopson Vet was incredible with her. Thinking her limping was a reaction to her vaccines the other day, she was given some pain relief and is now sleeping off her trip.

Blondie is about 5 years old, spayed, and up to date on her shots. She is very sweet and vocal! Come in next week to meet her! We hope she will be ready to socialize by then!
Reny wants to thank dr.kidd and everyone at pocopson vet for his handsome new Halloween bandana! Pocopson Veterinary Station
On behalf of Arctic Spirit Rescue and National Vet Tech Week, we'd like to thank everyone there that takes such great care of our ASR dogs!
It's National Vet Tech Week and Baloo is ready to share his favorite toy with his vet techs. We'd like to thank the techs at Wyomissing Animal Hospital and Pocopson Veterinary Station that take such great care of our ASR dogs. Don't forget to thank your vet techs this week!
