Our next Pack Walk is August 19 at 930 AM at the Rio in Gaithersburg. Meet by the Target (parking garage is right there for ease of meeting and loading and unloading).

Please do RSVP so I am aware who is coming. But we will start promptly at 930 am. No waiting for stragglers....

Please bring water for your pups as some of the walk is in the sun and it still is warm out!

PACK WALK IS CANCELLED FOR TOMORROW. The intensity of the heat at anything past 8 is just too dangerous for us to do the walk. Please remember the third Saturday of August is our next walk. Scheduled for 930 or 9 am, depending on what weather will look like at that time.

I feel like this is this weeks mantra! Rotation Rotation VARIETY VARIETY!! Feed the rainbow 🥰 this is one of my favorite user friendly tests. It’s not overwhelming. It’s easy to read. And I pair a food elimination with it when you guys do a 6 week program with me. So we can see where our food allergies are vs our sensitivities.

1. Animals have a wide range of nutrients, even down to the cut of meat.
+ the more animal proteins you include, the wider range of a full balance in different nutrients.

2. Carnivores were never meant to eat the same thing day after day...
+ a carnivore in the wild hunts its prey based on need & location.
+ they're not thinking, "Oh man, I am only eating rabbit this week." They get what they get and that's how they create their own meal diversity.

3. Over-exposure is one of the most common reason for allergy-type symptoms.
+ if a pet gets too much of a certain food the body can begin to build an intolerance to it.
+ in addition to variety within the diet, we want to rotate between different proteins, brands, & manufactures.

Yet another win for feeding dogs real food (and another major warning for dry and rawhide feeders), this time published on nature.com, no less!

"We found that feeding a non-processed meat-based diet and giving the dog human-meal leftovers and table scraps during puppyhood (2–6 months) and adolescence (6–18 months) were protective against chronic enteropathy later in life. ESPECIALLY RAW BONES AND CARTILAGE AS WELL AS LEFTOVERS AND TABLE SCRAPS during puppyhood and adolescence, and berries during puppyhood were associated with less chronic enteropathy. In contrast, feeding an ultra-processed carbohydrate-based diet, namely dry dog food or “kibble” during puppyhood and adolescence, and rawhides during puppyhood were significant risk factors for chronic enteropathy later in life.

This makes it 5 from 5 for dry v raw comparisons.

There is still ZERO studies that suggest kibble is GOOD for a cat or dog (when compared to animals fed normally) for any ailment whatsoever. Happy to be corrected, please post them below.

Hi!! We took Ollie to a 5k event with loud music at the finish line and kids and people running all over, and even had him inside a coffee shop for a while, and he was so confident and comfortable 🙂 it was CRAZY

Tail up the whole time, barely barked, enjoyed people coming up to pet him
