Get to know Caramel! She is so happy to welcome you all! Let's pool together to FINALLY get this beautiful little sweetheart the help and Loving home she needs! Caramel is a Thai Ridgeback X Japanese Akita Inu cross, who was original rescued from the Asian meat market! She was adopted, but returned a year later, undersocialized, scared, defensive, and had nipped someone. The rescue refused to take her back with a bite history, so she was dropped at the county pound. LUCKILY, this pound did not put her down. But, UNluckily.. she has been there for 3 YEARS now!! Her fear of strangers keeps her from finding the home she so Desperately needs! Her breed mix also contributes to her guarding behavior, and this poor sweet girl requires a savvy home.
**WE NEED A TRAINER TO HELP ENSURE HER SAFETY**
Caramel is very fond of her favorite staff member named Alex, who is ready to help this page, and speak with any potential adopters!
The following are some pertinent notes on Caramel's behavior:
Caramel has some serious stranger issues as well as guarding.

This is a write up from the shelter's trainer-
"Caramel has a lot of limitations due to her history and behavior.
Caramel is a meat market dog imported from Asia. She embodies many of the genetic traits seem in
street dogs that allow them to be successful in living life on the streets, however these traits are not
easy to manage in a home setting. She is very adverse to meeting new people and is forward moving
and will bite to let the person know. She guards her possessions, is highly suspicious and nervous of new
situations and novel items. She has snapped at even her favorite people when guarding things. She is
manageable but we need someone with a lot of experience in behavior modification. She is very smart
and learns fast but has to be in a low stress environment with someone she trysts to respond to that
training. She may not acclimate to your friends (especially if they are a large male) or even to you without
multiple well orchestrated meet and greets. I would need more information on your experience level
with management/training before moving forward."
This does not have to be the case anymore. With the right training, this sweet girl's unforgettable Cheshire smile can beam in a happy environment where she is loves, comfortable, confident, and in a better place mentally, physically, and spiritually. Please share and spread the word to help Caramel get to experience the life she's never had, but so truly deserves.
Caramel thanks you all! π
