CNY SPCA We provide many services for the animals in our area, including adoption, education, and investigation. Viewing hours are Mon- Sat 11 AM to 4 PM.

Hours to redeem a lost/stray animal are Mon - Sat 11 AM - 3 PM. Please see our website, www.cnyspca.org for instructions on redeeming a lost pet. Please do not just show up as there are certain NYS Criteria that must be met before an animal is able to be redeemed.

It's Made it Home Monday!

It's been another great week of adoptions and this week we're highlighting Mickey! Mickey is a great example of why cat socialization at the shelter is so important for helping our animals be themselves and find their forever homes. Mickey had a unique way of nibbling fingers and generally preferred to keep to himself, but our great volunteers helped figure out that there is a sweet cat behind the grumpy face and he ended up with a forever home!

We hope all the critters we sent home this week are settling into their new homes well!

Adoption Event – Saturday, September 20th | 11am–3pm

Some of the dogs you can meet this weekend have been with us far too long. Every single one of them in this post arrived in 2024—some waiting over a year now. A year in a kennel is far too long for any dog. They deserve couches, families, walks, and love—not another day behind a door.

Stop by during event hours to meet your new best friend and help us finally send these long-timers home. Let’s make September 20th the day they’ve all been waiting for. 🐶❤️

🐾 CHARLIE 🐾

Charlie was picked up as a stray in Liverpool and weighs about 65 pounds. He's a sweet and gentle boy who loves pets from anybody and has the softest fur. He's an easy walker for volunteers and loves playing with other dogs! Charlie is selective with who his dog friends are, and if you have a dog at home, we always do meet and greets to ensure both dogs get along.

Tomorrow marks one full year that Stallone has been waiting for his forever home. While we’re closed tomorrow, you can come meet this handsome guy Monday–Friday from 11am–4pm or at our next adoption event on Saturday the 20th (where adoption fees are waived for adult dogs!).

Don’t overlook Stallone just because he’s technically a senior—at 8 years old, he’s the perfect mix of wise and wonderful.
✨ Excellent on leash – the best walking buddy
✨ Knows his commands like a pro
✨ Soft as can be (you’ll want to pet him all day!)

Stallone would love to be the one and only pet in your home. He’s got so much love to give, and after a year in our care, it’s his turn to shine.

Maybe you’ve heard of “black dog syndrome” in shelters—or maybe this is your first time learning about it. Sadly, we’ve just seen a clear example play out right here.
Three siblings came to us as strays (1st picture), all with very similar personalities—shy, a little reserved from not having much interaction with people, but undeniably sweet. Ginny, the black and tan pup, was adopted first. Just a few days later, her white-and-gray brother Draco found a home too.
And then there’s Luna. She’s just as gentle and loving as her siblings, but she’s still waiting… simply because she’s all black. No “unique” markings, no flashy coloring—just a beautiful black coat and a heart that’s every bit as wonderful.

Luna isn’t on our website yet (she still needs to be spayed), but that didn’t stop families from falling in love with her siblings. Their looks caught someone’s eye, and the rest was history.
Let’s work together to reverse this stigma. Let’s show the world that black dogs are every bit as special, lovable, and worthy of a home. Be the community that chooses black dogs—because they deserve their chance to shine, too.

Ripley is a fun pup who will love to play with you! She’s a lively 8-year-old mixed breed who is just the right size at under 40 pounds. She’s a Jack Russell/Dachshund mix who likes treats and affection and enjoys learning new things.

My foster’s mom favorite thing about me:
Betty White stole our hearts from the very first meeting - she dove right into the kiddie pool that day, and later into the tub when she came home with us! She’s a goofy, cuddly sweetheart whose eyes could melt anyone’s heart. While she was never truly shy, she’s blossoming even more each day, playing with confidence and joy. Such a happy, lovable girl!

Roll on over and join us for a fun-filled day of bowling to benefit the animals at the CNY SPCA! All proceeds from this event will go toward new equipment for our dog play yards, giving the pups in our care more enrichment, exercise, and joy while they wait for their forever homes. 💚

Meet Otto 🧡🏈
This 60-pound fella came to us as a stray, and he’s quickly shown us what a fun-loving, goofy guy he is. Otto lives for toys—whether it’s chasing, carrying, or learning how to “trade” so the game never has to end. He’s also a fan of water, he’ll happily bob for balls or try to catch the stream from the hose like it’s the best game in the world.
Otto has a signature walk with a little shuffle that makes him even more endearing. He’s the kind of dog who will keep you smiling, whether you’re outside playing or just hanging out.
With the Syracuse football season in full swing, why not make Otto your game-day buddy? 🍊🐾
