Imagine your family sold your house and moved.

That's what happened to poor Biscuit.

This handsome boy is VERY sweet. He's 1 year old and weighs about 55 pounds. He has high energy, but is also sweet and gentle. Biscuit is good with people, kids, and other dogs (we don't know about cats). He walks well on a leash and will make a great addition to your family.

Bentley (front), now Murphy, went home with an HHDR alumni adopted from us 1 year ago. He will go for 2 mile walks daily, go to Bear Park in the summer when his 3 college siblings come home in the summer. There he will hike, have adventures in the woods and go in the water. Dad works from home and and they will take trips to NC! Congrats on your adoption bud!!

In years past, we have turned to our army of volunteers to take home any dog that didn't get adopted through the Christmas Holiday. These Holiday Hosts gave the dogs a break from life in a kennel, added some fun to their own home and gave our hard working staff much needed and well deserved time off to enjoy their own families (sometimes with a Holiday guest of their own)
Like with most things, this year is different and it is looking like there will be more dogs than we have volunteers able to host. So we are turning to you to help.
The dogs leave our care on December 22nd and return December 26th. We provide anything you need - crate, food, toys, leash, etc. If something should go wrong, or you have any questions, we will be available to help you.
If you already have a processed adoption application on file, you simply need to call the rescue to let us know you would like to host a dog for Christmas. 315-446-5970. If you do not, please complete the form and submit.

We cannot promise we will have a dog available, or one available that will be a good fit for a holiday visit. We hope we have enough variety of different homes that all the dogs will all enjoy the spirit of Christmas in the comfort of a home.

You never know what dog is going to steal your heart!

What about Jenny!?

Jenny is a very sweet, medium energy girl who has been friendly with all the adults she has met. She has not interacted with any children, but should be fine with respectful kids. She is fine good other dogs and does best with dogs that match her energy. Jenny is good on the leash and is crate and house trained. She's 3 years old and weighs 50 pounds. She knows what love is… and she’s ready to share it with YOU!

Frizzle Pop had the best day visiting the residents and staff at St. Camillus! This sweet 16-week-old pup was on his very best behavior — soaking up attention, making new friends, and spreading smiles everywhere he went. 💚

At just 16 weeks old, this lab mix already has the sweetest temperament. He loves kids, enjoys other dogs, travels great in the car, and settles beautifully after playtime. With a little continued training and a lot of love, he’ll grow into an amazing companion.

Is your lip really stuck on your tooth?!

Meet the one-and-only JONES!

Jones was a stray on the streets of Syracuse. He was pulled from B&R Bunkhouse for our adoption program. We are just getting to know this handsome boy, but he is good with other dogs and is very sweet with people. We think he's about 4 years old and he weighs 45 pounds.

What breed is he!? Your guess is as good as ours!

We so appreciate our volunteers who spend time taking dogs on adventures outside the Rescue!

"Our Crate Escape with Kuala couldn't have gone any better. We went to the park down the road from the rescue and Kuala enjoyed some off leash time in their fenced in area fetching snowballs. We then went over to Pet Supplies Plus where Kuala investigated all the toys and he got to enjoy a tasty treat. After that, we visited Home Depot where Kuala said hello to some folks who were looking to give him a little attention. He did great in the car and was a perfect pup everywhere we went. Hope he finds his forever home soon!"

Andy is a VERY sweet boy. He's a young, Labrador mix, weighing 50 pounds. He's a bit shy at first, but quickly rolls over for mandatory belly rubs. He's great with people and other dogs and will do well with respectful children. He hasn't met a cat, walks well on a leash, and is doing okay with potty training so far.
