Meet Norie
Norie came to us in May after being found living on the streets in Mississippi. She was brought to St. John’s Animal Shelter in the hopes that her family would return for her. When they didn’t, our rescue partner, Mississippi Animal Project, reached out to us with Norie’s story, and we knew we wanted to give her a chance at finding the forever home she deserves here in New York.
When Norie first arrived, she was full of life and ready to GO, GO, GO! She needed a little help learning her leash manners, greeting people without jumping, and navigating playtime with her dog friends. But with patience, consistency, and lots of love, Norie began to shine!
She quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite. She joined pack walks with staff, attended training classes with our trainer, and made more and more friends in playgroups. She’s also been quite the adventurer, enjoying outings throughout the community, visits to nursing homes, trips to Wegmans, park adventures, and so much more! If there was somewhere to go or something to do, Norie was ready to be part of it!
Over time, her wonderful personality has truly blossomed. Today, Norie can play with dogs of all kinds, has learned her manners, walks nicely on leash, and is both house-trained and crate-trained. She absolutely loves her people, enjoys spending time with her furry friends, has not yet meet cats, 2-4 years of age, 48 lbs husky mix and will never let you forget when it’s mealtime!
While much of Norie’s past remains a mystery, we did discover that she has a seizure disorder after being with us for a few months. Because of this, Norie is looking for a special family who understands that, while she may have some additional medical needs, she has SO much love to give. She will need daily medication and routine bloodwork, but we know she is worth that little extra care.
Norie isn’t asking for a perfect life. She’s asking for a chance.
A chance to have a home of her own. A family to love her unconditionally. Walks, snuggles, movie nights, family outings, shopping trips for a ball or two, and all the simple joys every dog deserves.
We wish you could see Norie the way we see her here at HH: a playful, happy, loving soul who has worked so hard, learned so much, and is ready for her next chapter. She has so much life left to live and so much love waiting to give.
Her medical needs may mean she isn’t the easiest match for every family, but we know there is someone out there who will look past that and see the incredible dog standing right in front of them.
Norie is ready for her chance at the good life. All she needs is a family willing to give it to her.
