Pictured here are the last 3 loads of the season, picked today. Load #33, 34, and 35. So we should be able to have plenty of high quality pumpkins through Halloween night. I think this might be the best crop of pumpkins I’ve ever had, in my 40 years of growing them. We have blue, pink, and white stacking pumpkins. Pumpkins with warts. Pie pumpkins. Jack-o’-lantern sized pumpkins. Extra large 60+ pounds pumpkins. So see for yourself what we have to offer. And we hope you will turn to us for your pumpkin needs.

This couple came here today toward the end of the day. It had been raining on and off and I was cold and wet, as was my help, John and Jordan. When they came back from the maze, the turtle maze, they said they found this baby snapping turtle in the entrance of the maze, the turtle maze! Jase, the guy with the beard has had experience raising a painted turtle and will try and raise this baby snapper, that he found in the turtle maze!

Corn update: As predicted in previous posts, today is the last day of corn for our stand. Considering we started 10 days later than last year, it’s been an excellent year. We’ve remained open for 57 straight days. But the quality is getting harder and harder to find out there. So although there’s a lot of over over ripe corn out there, I’d rather not sell it that way. Thank you to all of you that patronize our stand. We truly appreciate the support we get. As we move on from the corn season, we will begin hosting schools during the week, and the public on weekends for pumpkins and fall activities. We look forward to a successful fall season and then a long winter to recharge the batteries.

Corn update: we should have sweet corn for about a week. I’ve thought right along that we would have sweet corn until the 1st of October. So that’s close to what should happen. I started picking in the 5th planting and last planting. Although the ears are small, the quality seems to be every bit as good as the middle of the summer. So get your last dibs before the end of the season.

Corn update and more: We should have sweet corn for about 3 more weeks. There’s a lot of corn right now and it’s nice stuff. The ears are good size and it’s at the right stage. This is my third planting of Remedy. There are two more plantings to go after this. And we also should have a steadier flow of tomatoes. We hope to begin picking pumpkins on Saturday which means we should have some on our front lawn for sale on Saturday. So there’s a lot going on here.

Corn update:
There’s good news and bad news in this first corn update. The goods is the corn looks great and we should have a nice crop. The bad news is it will be late this year. I usually figure on corn by or shortly after August 1st. It may not be until the middle of August until we have good supplies. So be patient!
Meanwhile, the pumpkin crop looks very promising. See photo below taken this week.

We’re sorry to report the passing of Misty. She was a character here for families, school children , and wedding events for the last 6 years. Her goofy, happy go lucky attitude made her safe, friendly, and popular. It’s going to be hard to fill her shoes.

So good to have the very talented artist, Wayne Daniels, here. He works with a very unusual medium: pumpkins. It’s fun to see him create this work of art, watching it progress throughout the day. Wayne is welcome to come here every fall.

Etse , who is from Ghana , and his 2 sons are going to be here on Sunday providing the sounds of Africa while you visit Our Farm.
They will wander around the maze, the u-pick pumpkin field, at the trebuchet before a launch, and on the wagon for the wagon rides. Close your eyes and you’ll think you’re in Africa.
