getting ready to send home this beautiful buck- the original plan was to mount this guy, but while I was skinning him out I found the end of a Muzzy broadhead arrow embedded through his gums and into the roof of his mouth. the bone had begun to grow around it! once I made this discovery it was decided that such a unique (and incredible!) skull should be preserved as is. I can only imagine the pain this great animal lived with and hope his preservation will tell his tale for lifetimes beyond his own.
