Keep Our Animals Safe During Dangerous Heatwave 🤍

Dear Friend/Supporter,

As severe temperatures scorch our inland San Diego rescue, the animals in our care rely entirely on us for their survival, safety and comfort.

Right now, EVERY kennel and cat condo needs extra help to stay safe. Our team is working tirelessly to:

🧊 Keep refrigeration systems and powerful fans running around the clock.

💧 Ensure a constant supply of fresh, cool water is available.

🧊Provide cooling mats, wet towels, and frozen enrichment treats to lower their body temperature and prevent dehydration.

🧊Monitor every animal for signs of heat stress and exhaustion.

This level of care completely drains our staff both physically and financially.

For example, we are facing exponentially high utility bills and increased needs for supplies. In short, we cannot get through the summer without you.

Your donation today will go directly toward our “Beat the Heat” fund, ensuring every animal stays cool, hydrated, and safe until this extreme weather passes.

These animals have already been through so much. They deserve to be comfortable and safe as they wait for their forever homes. Please, help us give them that relief.

Recently in San Bernardino County, there was a very serious situation which involved animal control seizing 16 Great Pyrenees/ Great Pyrenees mix dogs and puppies.

The shelter has since euthanized all of them, including very young puppies. The reasons given to justify this have been vague. 💔💔💔💔

The dogs, puppies, and newborns pictured in this post are the second wave confiscated from a terrible situation, and their lives are in jeopardy.

Two moms with tiny puppies still nursing, and three puppies that are under five months.

Tiny puppies are extremely vulnerable in shelters due to high stress, disease, and at this time of year—heat.

These dogs are occupants of the Barstow Humane Society and need to get out of there ASAP.

This plea for help is to the public asking for help fostering but to also any rescue that could take these dogs as there are too many for any one rescue to take.

This sweet creature’s name is Pond. She’s the kitty that we trapped, out in the Cuyamaca woods, after her owners abandoned her over a year ago. 😔

She’s very friendly and talkative. Pond loves to play and explore, and is very curious about all things. She loves attention and to cuddle.

We’ve heard that her past family kept her mostly outside, but she loves being inside and has no interest in going out.

Her first experience with other cats has been here with us over the last three months, and we think she’d do well with another kitty sibling.

Pond is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.

💘Adoption Update That Melted
Our Hearts!

Remember these two sweet puppies?
They were found abandoned in a crate in the middle of the desert — a heartbreaking and dangerous situation — but thanks to some incredible Good Samaritans, they were rescued just in time.

From there, they went to our amazing
“puppy foster magicians,” Laura & Mike, who spoiled them with homemade meals and endless love while they waited for their forever family.

And then... along came Lisa. 💖
She didn’t just fall in love with one — she adopted both! Now these lucky pups are living their best lives with their big sister Booboo, a beautiful Pyrenees/ German Shepherd mix (and fellow rescue!).

We couldn’t be happier for this sweet trio and their wonderful family.

Thank you, Lisa, for giving them the happy ending they deserve — and thank you to everyone who played a part in their journey.

Coincidentally, we got an update from an adopter from our first events yesterday!

“Little update on Ed ♥️he’s the silliest best kitten ever and he’s getting so big!”

He’s doing so well with his kitty siblings as you can see in the second photo.

Thank you Ella for giving him the best life and for being patient with a little street kitty at the beginning.
