Welcome to MissionVet Specialty & Emergency! Our highly trained specialists and support staff are devoted to providing the most advanced, compassionate medical care for your pet in collaboration with your family veterinarian. We take pride in not only delivering world class medicine, but also taking time to educate you about your pet’s condition. We know that dealing with pet health issues can be

difficult and stressful, so our warm hospital atmosphere and friendly staff will make you feel as comfortable as possible during your visit. We take pride in delivering care that you can count on. This multidisciplinary hospital was created in 2012 by partners of Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston and local partners Tige Witsberger (Surgeon) and Jocelyn Cooper (Neurologist/Neurosurgeon) to provide family veterinarians, clients, and patients in the San Antonio area with “Care You Can Count On.” In July 2016, MissionVet and its sister hospitals of Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists and the Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center partnered with the Compassion-First Pet Hospitals to accelerate their growth and network with other best-in-class specialty and emergency hospitals. Then in December 2016, MissionVet acquired Mission Pet Emergency, thereby combining the specialty services with the nights/weekends emergency services. Additional specialty services offered at Mission include internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, dentistry & oral surgery, dermatology and oncology. Our veterinary specialists and support staff are fully committed to the following values:

Quality – First and foremost, we commit to providing the highest level of quality medical care for your pet. Experience, training, hospital procedures, and interdisciplinary collaboration serve as the foundation for high quality medicine. Communication – We understand that no one wants to be left in the dark when a loved one is receiving medical care. We commit to having open and honest discussions with you and your family veterinarian and providing frequent patient status updates to make sure you stay informed. Education – Our staff has teaching affiliations with organizations such as Texas A&M, AOVet, and ACVS, just to name a few. As recognized leaders in the education of other specialists, we channel our passion for teaching towards helping you understand the most complicated medical conditions.for teaching towards helping you understand the most complicated medical conditions. Friendliness – The old adage that the best doctors have poor bedside manner is simply not true at MissionVet Specialty & Emergency. Our goal is to create a warm, friendly environment to make your experience with your pet at our hospital as positive as possible.

🎉 We are beyond excited to recognize our Employee of the Year for 2024: Blatney Jackson! 🎉

Blatney is a CVA-certified and working hard to become an LVT through veterinary technology school. She serves as a CPC in our Surgery department, specifically working alongside our surgical hospitalist, Dr. Nicole Garcia.

What makes this recognition extra special is that Blatney was voted as Employee of the Month, Employee of the Quarter, and then, voted by our entire staff as Employee of the Year for 2024! This is the first time we’ve done this at MissionVet, and Blatney’s journey through each of these awards speaks volumes about the impact she has made on our team.

Blatney is an invaluable member of the surgery team. She keeps us organized, on track, and ensures that everything runs smoothly. Her compassion for both our patients and clients is unmatched. She is intelligent, hardworking, and consistently goes above and beyond to make a difference every day. And let’s not forget her amazing attitude—she’s the one who lifts our spirits when things get stressful or busy.

Blatney, thank you for your dedication, your heart, and your endless support for everyone here at MissionVet. We are proud of you, lucky to have you on our team, and enjoy watching you grow.

Please join us in congratulating Blatney on this incredible achievement! 👏👏

Daylight Saving Time begins at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday! ⏰

As we spring ahead, our pets may be a little confused by their new meal times so keep that in mind as we all adjust to the new schedule.
We hope you and your pet are able to take advantage of the extra hour of daylight by spending some quality time outdoors.

Maddie and Dr. Garcia saw Rosie for a check-up and bandage change. Rosie has been on quite the journey with us here at MissionVet. Last month, she underwent a Partial Tarsal Arthrodesis surgery on her left hind leg, and we are thrilled to see her progress!

Next week, Rosie will be back with us for surgery on her other hind leg with our talented surgeons, Dr. Garcia and Dr. Hudson.

Wishing Rosie all the best as she heads into her next surgery! We’re here for you every step of the way, Rosie!

February 3rd was American Painter's Day, and our team decided to celebrate by tapping into our artistic side and creating a MissionVet mural! 🎨 American Painter’s Day honors both historic and contemporary American painters, and while we’re not sure our masterpiece will land in a museum anytime soon... it definitely brightened our days!
