Whoever said snakes aren't cute has clearly never met Glorp 😍

She's a cutie patootie noodle with puppy dog eyes, scales, and most importantly, a need for a loving home 🩷

Despite her attention-grabbing apperance, Glorp doesn't love when the focus is on her. She wasn't handled very much as an itty bitty baby Glorp, so now human hands make her a little nervous. She'll need an experienced adopter who's comfortable working with her as she continues to come out of her shell. The good news is, she's already making great strides in fostercare and is getting closer to becoming a confident Glorious Glorpy Glorp every day!

☀ Our medical team is HIRING! 🐾 Come join an incredible team of people working together to rescue and rehabilitate homeless pets with nowhere else to turn. SPCA Wake is NC's largest nonprofit animal rescue organization, where each year, thousands of pets from all across the state receive lifesaving care. You can be the reason sick and injured pets have the opportunity to heal and join loving families.

Our medical team now operates in our beautiful, brand new, state-of-the-art Veterinary Medical Center, which includes two surgery suites, radiology, dental, laboratory, and an expansive surgery prep & intubation bullpen.

Shelter medicine is a vibrant arena for developing hands-on experience with a wide array of medical cases and interventions. You'll work side-by-side with some of the most compassionate veterinary professionals in the state to make real change for both individual animals and the field of animal welfare in North Carolina.

SPCA Wake offers competitive pay and benefits, including health, vision, & dental, and generous PTO that grows with longevity. We never euthanize for space and are committed to giving pets the time, care, and treatment they need on the road to adoption.

If you care about helping the most vulnerable animals in our community, we'd love for you to join our team in pursuing our mission to save animal lives, keep families together, and prevent the euthanasia of adoptable pets.

This is Ellie. Ellie is a little too thickums and our medical team has forbidden her from having treats – in the name of improving her health and in the hopes she'll become a little less circle shaped. Easy enough right?

Except now Ellie's made it her mission to look at everyone with teddy-bear eyes, pleading for the vital snackies she's been denied. No matter the time of day or what we're doing, there she is. Imploring us to see reason.

Someone with the willpower to say "no more yum yums" needs to come take her from us. Please πŸ™ We can't resist these eyes much longer 😭

If you're looking for a girl with a whole lot of junk in her trunk (at least for now), a manipulatively cute face, and an endless desire for belly rubs, we've definitely got you covered. Adopt Ellie at spcawake.org/dogs

WOW. When we called for help, you didn’t just answer – you kicked down the door and showed us more love than we could have possibly imagined ❀️

Just look at this. We are completely mind-boggled by your outpouring of support. This is going to mean so much to so many pets and families. We are tremendously grateful for everyone who sent donations of food, cash, or other supplies to restock our shelves. Because of you, we can bolster our Pet Food Assistance Program, equip our baby kitten fosters with formula, and help more animals as they journey through the shelter and into loving homes πŸŽ‰

We are so lucky and grateful to have a wonderful community like you. We barely have the words – just, thank you.

Attention scruffy dog lovers! We need your help finding a special adopter for Baran πŸ™

Baran is playful. He's affectionate. And he gets the cutest zoomies where he'll spin in circles and excitedly bonk you with his b***y.

But he's also very worried and uncertain about the world around him. Loud noises, unknown men, and new places all tend to make him panic. Luckily, we've discovered that toys are the secret to his heart. Any type of toy. Toy = Friendship in the world of Baran.

He just needs a soft bed, a quiet home, and a patient person willing to win him over – one game of fetch at a time 🩷

If you can open your home to a tender-hearted wookie in need, we'd love to introduce you. Learn all about Baran at spcawake.org/dogs 🐾

This sweet little guy doesn't just look different from his littermates, he's got a lot going on inside too. First of all, let's acknowledge his name: Insectosaurus (it's from a movie, it's the theme for his litter; and really he got the better end of this bargain because his brother's name is Dr. Cockroach, PhD)

9-week-old Insectosaurus has hydrocephaly, or "water on the brain". You might notice his head is a bit dome-shaped, caused by all the fluid in his skull – fluid that can put dangerous pressure on his brain if it gets out of control.

Fortunately, his hydrocephaly is currently stable, and so far, he's enjoying a quite happy puppyhood. His brother Dr. Cockroach (again, PhD) is being the best little support buddy – with companionship, and also solidarity in bug names. They love each other πŸ₯Ί

Dogs with hydrocephaly often enjoy completely normal lives. So far, Insectosaurus' signs are all promising. But there is potential risk for the pressure on his brain to change with time, so it's important for any potential adopter to keep in mind.

Despite being dealt a more difficult hand than all his siblings, Insectosaurus is just a puppy. He wants what any puppy wants, and he deserves to know all the joys and adventures a dog can experience. So, we are here looking for a family who will give him that chance. For more information about this special guy, please visit spcawake.org/dogs πŸ’œ

PS:
Don't forget, right now all donations are being matched dollar for dollar in donated medical funds. These pets depend upon contributions from our community to get the support and care that saves their lives. Please consider making a gift today that will go 2x as far to save another little life. They deserve it β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

Peace & Blessings are so nearly feral we can't even handle them to get a picture, so we made you a drawing. This may honestly be the first time we've had longtimer gerbils. These aren't your typical get-them-for-your-kids gerbils. They will bite your children. Blessings will attack you if you mess with his tunnels, Peace will attack you no matter what. The only safe way we've devised to clean their enclosure involves oven mitts and a bowl. There used to be a third gerbil, but – and this is real – they ate him. Which (understandably) traumatized their owner to the point they could no longer bear to keep them.

Which brings us to today: a pair of gerbils out of a Stephen King novel, probably on a few watch lists, and definitely not getting adopted unless we do something drastic.

So – do you have no kids? Thick skin? A love for gerbils that surpasses their hatred for you? Please call us. Not your cup of tea? No problem. Maybe you can still help by sharing. After all, there's a lid for every pot..... right?
