SPCA of Wake County - K9 Crew To highlight dogs available for adoption at the SPCA of Wake County in Raleigh, NC - especially those that are long timers.

The K9 Crew, an initiative of the SPCA of Wake County's Behavior Team, is a group of trained volunteers that focus on highlighting some of the dogs who linger at the SPCA. The K9 Crew was first called the "Pit Crew" and originated to repair and rebuild the reputation of the American Pit Bull Terrier in our community. That work will continue as we move forward as the K9 Crew.

Meet Miles! This 5-year-old, 66-pound sweetheart is looking for a patient and loving home.

Miles can be a bit cautious at first, but once he warms up, he’s incredibly affectionate—he loves chest rubs, neck scratches, and will happily lean in for more. He’s very food motivated, already knows how to sit, and is eager to keep learning.

He does best with a calm, steady approach, as sudden movements or pressure around his chest can make him nervous. With gentle guidance and positive reinforcement, he builds confidence beautifully. Miles also enjoys the company of other dogs and did great during his medical care when he felt safe and supported.

Miles is searching for a family who understands sensitive dogs and will give him the time, consistency, and love he needs to thrive. In return, you’ll get plenty of wiggly, happy affection.

Teva is a sweet and brave 1-year-old girl looking for a patient, loving home. She may be a little nervous at first, but with gentle kindness and a few treats, she quickly warms up and becomes affectionate and loving. 💕

Teva has lived successfully with both dogs and cats in a foster home and enjoys attention from her people once she feels comfortable. She also handled her veterinary exams calmly and gently.

At full grown, Teva weighs about 51 lbs and is ready to find a forever family where she can continue to build confidence and be spoiled with love. 🐾

Leah is currently living in one of our awesome foster homes, where she is learning that the world can be a kinder, less scary place. She would do best as the only dog in the home so she can feel secure and relaxed.
