Little Dug recently entered our program from a rural shelter.
Dug is about 12 weeks old and has already lived a tragic life. He entered the shelter as a stray. In his short little life he has already experienced tragedy.
At some point in his life, he broke his leg and experienced head trauma. Neither injury was treated and it was long ago enough that his leg has healed- oddly. He is also blind.
Today Dug visited Animal Eye Care Associates - Cary to see if there was any hope he would be able to see again. Sadly, there is none. Little Dug has retinal degeneration and there is no treatment.
Dug, on the other hand, has no idea he can't see! In his world, all dogs are blind! He has adjusted well to his condition and will have a great life!
Our next visit will be with the orthopedic doctor to see if there is any hope his leg can be repaired. Dug has seen two regular vets and both were non-commital about his prognosis.
We will update on Dug when we have more news!
Yes a lucky little dog!
