Even if you've visited our center, you've likely not had the opportunity to meet Matt! One of our evening dog walkers, Matt has been volunteering with Second Chance for almost five years--keeping our pups exercised, energized, and happy!

We are thrilled to highlight Matt and his time with Second Chance in our Volunteer Spotlight this month, and hope that if you're feeling the call to volunteer, you'll consider joining us.

Meet Sandy, a sweet, easygoing girl who has mastered the art of taking life at her own pace. Sheā€™s independent and perfectly content doing her own thingā€”but when she decides itā€™s time for some love, sheā€™ll be sure to come looking for you!

Sandy would be happy as your one-and-only cat, but she can also appreciate a mellow feline roommate or a calm, cat-savvy dog. If youā€™re looking for a gentle companion who enjoys both quiet independence and quality time with her people, Sandy might be your perfect match.

International Dog Day looks a little extra special around our center this year šŸ¾šŸ’œ

After 653 days with Second Chance, including a return to our center, Suzy finally got the happy ending she deserved: ADOPTED! Swipe to see our girl with her new owner - also named SUZY!!!!

This one-eyed cutie spent nearly two years waiting for the right person to see what we saw in herā€”a sweet, silly, cuddly girl who just wanted a place to call home.

This sweet orange boy is a gentle, sensitive soul who may need a little patience while he settles into a new home. But once Knox feels safe, his affectionate personality shines through; he loves spending time with the people he trusts, and we're sure that it could be you!

Knox gets along well with other cats, but heā€™d also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only. He can even do well with calm, respectful dogs with slow, thoughtful introductions.

Weā€™ve got your weekend covered! Come see us tomorrow at oneā€”or both!ā€”of our two events!

At our center, weā€™ll be hosting our monthly Paws & Purrs Adoption Day from 12-3 p.m. You can come by to meet some of our adoptable pups, kitties, and chat with staff and volunteers about our organization!

Then, from 4-7 p.m. weā€™ll be partying at Boxyard RTP to celebrate the launch of 2026 Rescue Brew with our friends from Fullsteam, RTP Uncorked, and other vendors visiting for our market! Thereā€™ll be live music from DJ Marrs, pet sketches by Echo, food, adoptable pups, and more!

We canā€™t wait to have an awesome Saturday with everyone; hope to see you at our events!

Meet Lucky!

This handsome 4-month-old boy is about 30 lbs of pure puppy sweetnessā€”and whoever gets to adopt him will truly be the lucky one!

Lucky is potty- and crate-trained, sleeps wonderfully in his crate at night, and is already more well-behaved than many adult dogs. He loves to play, explore, chew, and learn new things. He knows sit and spin and is working on paw.

He absolutely LOVES people and other dogs, big or small. He gives the best kisses, enjoys playtime, and is also happy to settle in for some quiet time. He can be a little talkative when he wants you to keep playing, but the only time he gets sad is when his people leave.

Sweet, playful, smart, affectionate, and oh-so-handsomeā€”Lucky is ready to melt your heart!
