Sanctuary Farm Phila

Sanctuary Farm Phila Sanctuary Farms is focused on Digging Deep to Harvest Healthy Lives. We are focused on teaching community members about gardening wellness, and nutrition.

Sanctuary Farm seeks to address the health inequities resulting from systemic racial oppression and economic injustice by converting abandoned and neglected areas in our community into spaces that promote safety, hospitality, nutrition, and growth.

BITTERSWEET, but we couldn’t be happier for our friend, trusted colleague, and awesome Program Manager, Nicolle Valencia, as she embarks on an exciting new chapter. Nicolle is leaving us to accept her dream role as a Community Engagement Teaching Artist with The Clay Studio, a renowned nonprofit arts organization in Kensington.

Founded in 1974, The Clay Studio is guided by the belief that shared creativity is fundamental to the human experience and a powerful force for good. The organization serves as a vibrant hub for ceramic arts, offering studio space, educational programming, and exhibitions that inspire artists and community members alike.

Sanctuary Farm Executive Director Andrea Vettori shared:

“Nicolle’s dedication and warmth will be deeply missed by our team. She joined us during a time of exciting growth at the farm, stepping into the newly created role of Program Manager. Through her thoughtful, compassionate, and committed approach, she helped us expand and diversify our programs to better serve our participants. While I am sad to see her go, I am thrilled for Nicolle. This is her passion, and she will be doing work that truly fills her soul.”

Nicolle, thank you for everything you have given to advance our work and mission. We are grateful for your contributions and excited to see the impact you will make in this next role. Wishing you every success and happiness in the journey ahead!

Fresh produce. Open hands. Loving neighbors. 🌱

Every week at Sanctuary Farm Phila, we grow and freely share healthy food with our North Philadelphia community. Our farm stand is about more than vegetables — it’s about dignity, hospitality, and caring for one another.

Because of generous donors and supporters, this work continues to grow. Will you join in supporting our work? Go to Donate at sanctuaryfarmphila.org. 💚

A DAY WORTH buzzing about… it’s World Bee Day!💚🐝💚

Here’s to these amazing creatures that:

🐝 Pollinate our gardens, allowing our plants to produce the veggies and fruits we rely on. Pollinators contribute directly to food security. A third of the world’s food production depends on bees.

🍯 Produce the honey that nourishes and soothes us, in our foods and medicines.

🕯️ And think of all the products that are made with beeswax.

🌎 Bees are essential to us and to our planet. Yet air pollution and pesticides threaten their existence.

Want to learn more about bees? We offer beekeeping classes every year. Stop by and see our urban apiary and the Stein Memorial honey hut.

ELECTION DAY FARM VISITORS!💚

With school out for Election Day, these sweet neighbors stopped by our free produce farm stand with mom to pick out and cut some fresh herbs to go along with the veggies.

Stand visitors really enjoy walking through the herb garden to see the various herbs grown and learn about the ones they select.
