This weekend reminded us that rescue never takes a day off.
Despite the extreme heat and poor air quality, the GSR team answered a call about a pregnant mama cat hiding beneath a vendor truck. By the time we arrived, she had already given birth.
Meet España. 🇪🇸 A brave mama who brought her kittens into the world under unimaginable conditions, doing everything she could to keep them safe.
Because España was too frightened to approach and it took time to safely trap her, we couldn't immediately reunite her with her newborns. That's when another incredible mama, Carly, stepped in. Without hesitation, Carly accepted España's kittens, nursing and caring for them as if they were her own while our team worked tirelessly to bring their mom to safety.
Thanks to Carly's kindness and España's resilience, this little family has a second chance.
This is what rescue looks like. Even in extreme heat. Even with poor air quality. When lives are on the line, we show up.
Now, the next chapter of their story depends on our community.
