This week we're saying goodbye to Decker because he is moving on to his advanced Seeing Eye training in the coming weeks! 🩷 Minder Tyler and the entire Minder crew have loved getting to know him over the last year and this is bittersweet for us (so we can't imagine what it must feel like for our clients!) Thanks for trusting us with the first part of Decker's journey to change someone's life. The Seeing Eye program is simply incredible (as are the wonderful humans who temporarily raise amazing dogs like Decker.) 🫶

This weekend we said goodbye to our beloved, Jax. Our hearts broke, but he’s no longer in pain. This beautiful boy came into our lives 13 years ago next week as an anxious pup in our shelter dog running program. Our volunteers would take him out for long runs and he’d still pace and pace, and pace in his kennel at the shelter. One volunteer pleaded with me to foster him, and I could not say no. That first night he clung to me like glue (and surprised me by following me right into the shower) and he was my shadow ever since. He ran thousands of miles by my side, was one of the first creatures our daughter met, went on countless camping trips, lived to swim in Lake Michigan and climbed the best sand dunes in the world. He ate things he should not (which landed him at the vet more than once) and was one of the most loyal dogs I’ve ever met. (And as everyone knows, I’ve met a few.) He wasn’t the smartest dog, but he loved life and he loved us. And that love was real and we were blessed to experience it. We will never forget you, old man. Many thanks for for rescuing him all those years ago and to who gave him a beautiful exit, at home, surrounded by his people. (Special shout out to Dr. Abby, who we think is a literal angel. She was so wonderful with our daughter - direct, but deeply soothing. This was a massive, horrible moment for our family and Dr. Abby met the moment with beauty.) Hug your loved ones tight. ❤️ I love you Jax. You will always be mine.
