Juice is a 10 year old long haired cat. He is very sweet and super mellow. He enjoys looking out the window, and eating.

Juice developed a serious medical condition due to constipation.
There can be a lot of contributing factors for feline constipation. Poor gut motility, overgrooming, being overweight or sedentary, lower back pain from arthritis, and the wrong diet can all contribute.
Juice needed medical care when he became completely obstructed which included general anesthesia, fluids, x-rays, and multiple enemas.
Juice has super conscientious pet parents. They now monitor his litter box usage and use multiple tools to manage and prevent constipation from happening again.
These tools include feeding canned food, a drug to promote GI motility, Juice's beautiful lion cut, and a stool softener.
Juice doesn't agree that he needs to diet. 😾 He also doesn't like wet cat food nearly as much as dry. Despite that, his family has managed to get him down to 19 lbs, from 23.5 lbs.
Cats are not unique in their grooming behavior. However, too much grooming or just having long hair can worsen constipation when too much hair is swallowed.
Thanks to Juice's awesome family, he has been well managed for the last 2 years at home. This means, no more emergency trips to the vet.🩺😺
