Alright friends — what do you think is happening here? 🤔

Is this pup:
A) Taste-testing vanilla frosting for a new baking show 🍰
B) Trying out a spa day “muzzle mask” treatment 🧖‍♂️
C) Getting fitted for the most custom crown in town 🦷
D) Regretting every life choice that led to marshmallow goo on the chin 🤦‍♀️

Drop your guesses! 🐾

A massive congratulations for our very own Dr. Rachelle Fisher, whose publication “Differential causes of masticatory muscle disorders in dogs: a review of diagnosis, treatment and long-term management”, published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science.
The amount of work, sacrificed nights and weekends and self-imposed reading it takes to publish scientific literature cannot be understated.
Congratulations Rachelle, we are so proud of you!

While not always an option, minimally invasive, cost-effective fracture repair can be a game changer for canine and feline patients and their families. Techniques such as the three-button method or the use soft muzzles for certain jaw fractures allow stabilization with minimal surgical trauma, reduced anesthesia time, and faster return to normal function compared to more extensive plating or wiring procedures. These approaches help improve patient comfort while still achieving reliable fracture stability. The result is practical care that supports healing, lowers overall costs, and keeps recovery as smooth as possible for both dogs and cats and their owners. We will always inform you if one of these options are right for your pet!

At NDOSA, we embrace antimicrobial stewardship through appropriate use of antibiotics in our surgical patients. This means that not every patient undergoing a dental procedure requires an antibiotic!

Some indications for antibiotic use in veterinary dentistry can include patients that have orthopedic hardware/implants or are immunocompromised or experiencing severe systemic conditions such as heart, liver, or kidney disease.

Looking back at 2025, we fully embraced antimicrobial stewardship. In fact, 406 patients underwent procedures and only 6% received antibiotics.

We are very proud of this statistic! It matters! We will always discuss your pet's antibiotic requirements with you at your consultation.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
