Please Share. A Monday waggy tail resilience! Meet Wilbert! Wilbert was pulled by HPF on his very last day at Hall County Animal Shelter. He came to HPF extremely emaciated and with a skin infection that had savagely taken most of his fur. At first, Wilbert was terrified of human touch and would shake with fear in his kennel when approached. Slowly, however, he began to understand that the people surrounding him were there to help and he started to blossom and shine.
And then there was another detour on his way to wellness -- Wilbert contracted a respiratory infection in addition to a very severe Gastrointestinal bleed. He would not eat because he felt so bad and began to lose all the ground that he had gained. He was literally skin and bones. Wilbert required Intensive Care treatment.
During all this time, Wilbert never gave up and kept fighting to live. You could see the sheer will in his soulful brown eyes. Yet there was a point where we could tell he was losing the battle even though he was fighting so hard! Our hearts were breaking because he looked too tired, weak and the gleam in his eyes was fading…and then he took one bite of food… and then another! AND the spark was restored!
Once Wilbert was eating on his own and no longer required intensive care, he was released into a medical foster where he began to thrive. Wilbert’s hair has started to grow nicely, and his weight has increased substantially. He now looks like a healthy boy with a happy tummy!
Wilbert’s resilience is awe inspiring. He finally felt what it was like to be loved, and he wasn’t going to leave this earth without knowing what it feels like to have the fairy tail! Wilbert is a very special boy and requires a very special home.
His soul is kind and gentle, and we want to ensure that his furrever will be the dream come true. Wilbert would do best in a calm home. He loves to relax and prefers to be INSIDE. If you are looking for a pet to take to the dog park…Wilbert is not your guy. Wilbert would prefer to sit with his parents while they work, relax and chill like a cucumber.
Wilbert wants to like cats but the urge to chase is too strong at times…not realizing that it’s not their cup of tea. He absolutely loves toys…too much and must only have indestructible bully toys. Wilbert has a joyful puppy spirit and he is learning not to be mouthy with play. He is incredibly intelligent and a fast learner. Since Wilbert was completely emaciated, he sometimes has a lingering desire to pick up items off the ground, and as a result it is important to monitor him on walks. Wilbert’s loves to ride in cars…so much! Wilbert is crate trained but would love a home where he could snuggle up in the bed! ❤ If you are interested in making Wilbert’s fight for survival worth it all-please visit his at link, 💛 https://www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=2304648&name=Wilbert+
