It was my anniversary!
Have you been checking out the valentine's day requests going on over on the Papayago Rescue House page??

We couldn't let the day pass without celebrating one of our own—Happy Anniversary, CoCo Chanel! In 2019, CoCo became a cherished member of the Papayago Family. Today, she spends her time comforting other birds who are scared or adjusting to rescue life. She offers preens, shares nuts, and simply stays close to give them hope.

As our Ambassador, CoCo often attends events where she teaches people about birds like herself, sharing insights on how to keep them happy and healthy.

Please join us in wishing CoCo Happy Anniversary! Papayago would not be the same without her 💖

Auntie Bri says that she is so sorry that she has not been posting! Things have been a little extra busy at the rescue but she says she will do better.

To start with, we wanted to thank Auntie Lisa! She is an amazing volunteer who makes the yummest chops and makes all my protective clothing!

Memorial Day, as Decoration Day gradually came to be known, originally honored only those lost while fighting in the Civil War. But during World War I the United States found itself embroiled in another major conflict, and the holiday evolved to commemorate American military personnel who died in all wars, including World War II, The Vietnam War, The Korean War and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

For decades, Memorial Day continued to be observed on May 30, the date General Logan had selected for the first Decoration Day. But in 1968, Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which established Memorial Day as the last Monday in May in order to create a three-day weekend for federal employees. The change went into effect in 1971. The same law also declared Memorial Day a federal holiday.
