🐾 Trick of the Month: Teach Your Dog to SPEAK! 🐾
Want to give your dog a voice? Teaching the “Speak” command is a great way to channel barking into a fun and controlled trick! 🎤🐶
How to Teach It:
1️⃣ Get your dog excited with a favorite toy or treat.
2️⃣ Wait for them to naturally bark.
3️⃣ The moment they do, say “Speak!” and reward right away.
4️⃣ Repeat in short, fun sessions until they connect the word with the action.
✨ Pro Tip: Once your pup masters “Speak,” you can also teach the opposite command – “Quiet.”
Share your pup’s best bark with us using – we can’t wait to hear your furry friends! 🐕🎉

5 Quick Tips for Calming an Aggressive Dog
1. Stay Calm and Avoid Eye Contact
Your dog will sense your energy. A calm, non-threatening demeanor helps reduce tension.
2. Give Them Space
Never corner an aggressive dog—allow them to retreat and feel safe.
3. Identify the Trigger
Pay attention to what sets off the behavior (e.g., another dog, loud noise) and remove or avoid that trigger if possible.
4. Redirect Their Focus
Use a favorite toy, treat, or command to shift your dog’s attention away from the source of stress.
5. Use Positive Reinforcement
Reward calm, non-aggressive behavior with praise and treats to encourage a positive response.

The Reason

I am happiest when I am helping people and working with animals. Every dog deserves a happy loving home and family. Sometimes, either the family or dog needs some extra or specialized help. This is the part I can help with, addressing the problems and providing the tools to correct problems and help keep them from returning.

Most dogs don’t get a fair shake. They get labeled as reactive or untrainable or worse through no fault of their own. Their people may try to teach them how to behave but don’t succeed for some reason.

I love the challenge of figuring out how best to reach a certain dog and then teaching both the dog and their family. Dogs have needs and once you start helping a dog meet their needs you have a loyal companion that will do anything for their owner.

I have 30 years experience working with dogs and their owners. I believe education and staying up on current trends and techniques is very important. I have the CPDT-KSA level certification and recertify every 3 years. I also am a designated AKC Evaluator, Certified Dognition Evaluator, and graduated at the top of my class from Animal Behavior College.
