Last weekend we tried the Sniffspot app for the first time in our area. This is a great way to have a safe & secured area for us to utilize. Toby will never be the type of dog that likes meeting new dogs or people on a regular basis & that's okay. So public dog parks are not the way to go for him. Highly recommend sniffspot to anyone looking for a private dog park experience.

Toby update!

Spoke with the trainer & they're working on him bonding right now with a MALE trainer on a farm. He has been doing some in house boot camp at the facility but nothing too crazy just yet because they really want him to feel confident about trusting the handlers. He has NO MUZZLE with the strangers too. I dont know how they pulled that one off but I'm just so thrilled that hes doing so good so far. I know it's only day 3 but this is a great start. he wants to train. So so far so good. Yes, that's him doing some treadmill exercises!
Oh my gosh! I have to figure out how to save the videos so I share them with yall.
We did it y'all. We saved him countless times now & we are continuing to do our best to make sure he has the best life possible. We couldn't have done any of this without each & every one of you. Thank you so much for the support! I can now relax knowing he's in good hands. Have a Happy 4th of July & a fantastic weekend!

Well, I didnt want to do it.....however, I know it's what's best for him. Toby is officially in dog board & train. If you have Instagram, you can follow his journey on the PacWest K9 page.
If you don't have Instagram, dont worry. I will be sharing their posts here so we can all see how he progresses. He will be in training for 30+ days. I kept calm the entire drive & at drop off. Yet, when I got in my car the tears came.
Toby has such a special place in my heart. I dont want him to feel like he's being abandoned. So I'm struggling with trusting the process. I just know I want him to be able to live a better life.

He went from being in a shelter, to foster care, board & train at Mutt School, foster care, adoption, traveling across state lines to a new home, now moving in a better home, & I just want to continue to make his life the best it possibly can be. I would love to walk him further than around our street without losing his mind if he sees people, animals, & even loud noisy vehicles. I'd love to bring him to the market with me vs staying at home. Even being able to go on a hike together would be so much fun for him.

I know when he comes home I'll need to improve my handling skills as well. That'll be the best day for sure! For now, I'll be taking this time to get his room set up for his return. I'll also be working with our other dogs to make sure we are all utilizing this time to be a better pack family.

A lot has happened & all for the better.

We moved to a new place so Toby & the rest of the pups could have a better quality of life similar to their life in KS. We are home more & today proved we made the right call. As great as this is, its also bittersweet. Toby officially leaves this week for board & train. So he gets extra hugs & kisses.
Today he even got a good game of fetch in. He's so happy. Just look at that smile!
I sure hope July flies by because I already want him back home.

Just wanted to give an update on Toby. Due to some unforeseen factors, we had to postpone Toby's board & train for July. Thankfully, his new trainers are able to accommodat us.
Toby is unphased lol. We have been going for walks, working on his commands, going for drives, & playing fetch. He is also learning to play with Remy, his rottie sister. He is always so rough with her, but yesterday he was the absolute sweetest with her. He played so gently I hope to catch it on video next time. Like all days spent together, they like to end it snuggling with each other.
I'm so happy to have Toby in our lives. He has such a puppy spirit.

Just got the email from his training center. May will be the month for 30 day board & train. I'm so not ready for this! I cannot imagine him being away from me for that long. I'm constantly having to remind myself that this training could help save his life, give him a better quality of life & well trained pups are happy pups.
It's happening so fast now. Bittersweet for sure.

Has anyone else ever done board & train? What's the best piece of advice you wish someone would of told you beforehand?

Getting Toby train & board ready by ensuring he has all of his shots. Doing a wellness exam as well. It was absolutely awesome to see his favorite vet tech, Carolann, in her "It takes a village" hoodie this morning!
So blessed to have found such an awesome group of people to care for our Toby.

Usually he barks, lunges, & is doing way too much when we do the hand off. However, today he just sniffed, stayed by my side & didnt make a peep. the trainer said he should absolutely have boundaries people that aren't us respect. Yet, he shouldn't be reactive. We should be able to have conversations with others without him being over the top. Well, he did just that today! So proud of Toby.

Well, after our evaluation the trainer is suggesting to do a full 30 day board & train to help reset Toby's reactive behavior. We want the absolute best for Toby. He deserves to live a good quality life being able to enjoy being with us without reacting to others. This is going to be an intense program. We think itll be the best thing for him. Hopefully itll help improve his handlings at the vet. We hope this will also help him have the opportunity to go to doggy daycare & or to be boarded in case we cannot take him with us.

We are excited, nervous, & will once again be doing everything possible to ensure he gets what he needs.

We will be keeping y'all posted on when he will be gone. We will be getting updates as well on his progress. Looks like Toby's village just got bigger!

Since we work long days, we like to make sure we make up for it once we are home by giving each pup what they need. Toby always wants to cuddle as we watch some cooking shows on the phone.

Its been a crazy few days but surgery went well. Hes recovery good & is having a good appetite. He wants to be near me so I slept on the couch so we could sleep together. If I sleep next to him, he gets silly excited & we cant have that per doctor orders.
A big thank you to everyone that has bought items from his fundraiser. Thank you to everyone for sharing his posts. He is truly blessed to have such amazing support & love from people all over!

Last night I got the most horrible call that Toby in fact has an obstruction. I was beside myself because it was not looking good at all. I couldn't stop crying & this morning I went to see him for what I feared would be the last time. Thankfully, one if his biggest supporters here found a way to have him transferred so he could get the help he desperately needs.

I'm currently waiting to hear from the doctors how the surgery went & when I can bring my baby boy home. When I say "it takes a villiage", I cant help but think of how thankful I am for our village.

This weekend Toby was so happy playing in the snow. This is the Toby we all love to see 💛
He's the biggest goofball you'll ever meet. Really hope we can figure out what's going on so he can stay this happy & silly for good this time.
