Not all dogs are natural swimmers—breeds with shorter legs or heavier bodies may struggle more than you’d think! Always supervise your pup around water and consider a life jacket for extra safety during summer adventures. ☀️🐾

Some pets, like Luna, prefer to just relax and lounge in the water, while others like Cooper love to swim and sometimes need a little extra help from a life vest to stay safe while having fun! 💦🐶

This pup was seen for on and off front leg lameness that started suddenly. She was particularly painful when walking on rocks.

🐾☀️ Fun Fact Friday: Hot Pavement Alert! ☀️🐾

Did you know? If the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your pet’s paws!

👉 Try the 7-second test: Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If you can’t keep it there comfortably for 7 seconds, it can burn your dog’s paw pads.

Mid-May sunshine can heat up sidewalks fast—even on days that don’t feel super hot to us.

🐶 Protect those paws:
• Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
• Stick to grass or shaded paths
• Consider protective booties if needed

Your pet’s paws are tougher than our skin—but they’re not heatproof! Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine 🌼

Today we share bittersweet news: Dr. Iseman will be moving on from Animal Doctor Westside on May 15th after many years of dedicated service.

Since joining the clinic years ago—and eventually partnering with Animal Doctor and purchasing the practice in 2017—Dr. Iseman has been a cornerstone of Animal Doctor Westside, building lasting relationships with clients and providing compassionate care to countless pets. She also helped shape Animal Doctor Westside into the Fear Free-focused, and certified, clinic it is today, always prioritizing a calm and comfortable experience for pets and their families.

We are incredibly grateful for her leadership, dedication, and impact on our team and community. Please join us in wishing Dr. Iseman all the best in her next chapter. Also enjoying this fabulous photo of the progression of her and he sweet dog Eva! 💙
