Young-Williams Animal Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization serving Knoxville and Knox County. We are dedicated to the sheltering and placement of animals and general animal welfare. We are an open-intake facility and care for more than 11,000 annually. Our Spay/Neuter Solutions offers low-cost options--$45 for cats and $70 for dogs--and convenient access to services via both a Clinic

Berg is a good young dog with a lot of energy. He loves to play and be close to his humans. He listens relatively well to commands and has done well with older children and most other dogs. On car rides, he had done great and will lay in the back and relax. He is always up for a game of chase or fetch. He goes to gentle playgroups with other shelter dogs, and is social, appeasing, tolerant, and vocal. Berg is a very silly boy who is curious and enjoys learning.

Raccoon City is a sweet, charming boy, oblivious to the cruel dog-eat-dog nature of the world! His approachable and affable demeanor is endearing enough to bring people back from the living death that the modern world inflicts on so many people. He is eager to party up with all comers, human and canine alike, and he knows how to negotiate those troubling moral dilemmas; with snuggles and playtime! All he needs is a hero, someone brave enough to enter his world and help him to escape this supply-strapped safehouse he's been trapped in for his own safety from the dangerous environment outside.

Our foster department has been SWAMPED! We have a record setting 300+ kittens in foster care right now. This kitten season is absolutely whooping us. We’re going through a lot of wet food and kitten milk replacement and are in need of more to keep up with the high volume of kittens coming in. Any contribution is greatly appreciated and makes a world of difference!

Lady Red is a sweet senior girl with a heart as big as her adorable blocky head. This gentle, food-motivated girl is always happy to see people, loves attention, and enjoys the simple things in life like tasty snacks, comfy blankets, and cozy naps by your side. Her slower pace and polite leash manners make her a wonderful walking companion, and she also enjoys scent work games that show off her smarts. Lady Red has done wonderfully in gentle playgroups with her relaxed, social nature and soft, tolerant demeanor, and she’d make the ultimate couch companion for someone looking for a loving snuggle buddy with the cutest tail wags around.

Meet Little Venus, our foster pup. She has been growing and learning every day. She enjoys playing with our resident dogs and taking in all the sights and smells walking the neighborhood. She is learning to trust humans, especially if they are offering a treat. She loves nothing more than to curl up beside you and lay her head on your lap. She is great with kids and really likes to play with our resident cats- some appreciate her effort and others do not! She is getting better at house training and really wants to please. We are really enjoying watching her become an amazing family dog. Reach out if you want to meet her. Bring treats!

Oodles is ready to bring oodles of fun, snuggles, and personality into her future home! This affectionate girl loves squeaky toys, splashing around in water, and bouncing around with her dog friends in playgroups. Once she feels comfortable, she turns into a wiggly, needy cuddlebug who loves leaning in for pets and soaking up attention from her people. Oodles can be a little unsure around unfamiliar men at first, but with patience, slow introductions, and a chance to warm up at her own pace, she has already shown she can build trust and become a loving companion.
