Young-Williams Animal Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization serving Knoxville and Knox County. We are dedicated to the sheltering and placement of animals and general animal welfare. We are an open-intake facility and care for more than 11,000 annually. Our Spay/Neuter Solutions offers low-cost options--$45 for cats and $70 for dogs--and convenient access to services via both a Clinic

🚨 URGENT SCAM ALERT FOR LOST PET OWNERS 🚨

We have been made aware of a cruel phone scam targeting community members who have recently posted about a lost pet on social media.

How the scam works:
-Scammers are spoofing phone numbers to make calls appear as though they are coming from Young-Williams Animal Center or the Knoxville Police Department.
-The caller claims your lost pet has been found but requires urgent medical or emergency services.
-They demand immediate payment (reports indicate asks of around $3,500) before the pet can be picked up from the police department.

⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM. Young-Williams Animal Center and the Knoxville Police Department will never demand over-the-phone payments or send untrusted links for emergency fees to release a pet.

What to do:
1. Stay Vigilant: If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately.
2. Verify Directly: Call Young-Williams Animal Center or KPD directly using the official phone numbers listed on our verified websites—do not use the number that just called you.
3.Protect Your Info: Never give out credit card numbers, digital wallet information, or click suspicious links.

Meet Hector. Hector came in to the shelter skinny, covered in scars, and showing signs of having been a stray for a long time. He was understandably very frightened and unsure of us. He has made so much progress since then! This sweet gentle giant walks well on a leash, goes to the bathroom outside, and loves snuggles. He does well with other dogs in small, gentle playgroups (as long as no one is trying to steal his snacks). Let Hector wow you today with all his progress-- ask to meet him!

Layla Cakes is a joyful, affectionate girl who loves to play just as much as she loves to snuggle. Layla Cakes is friendly, snuggly, social, and treat-motivated. She enjoys walks, car rides, meeting new people, and chasing after toys - especially soccer balls and fun Bark Box toys she can chew up. Layla has lived with kids before and has done well with other dogs, but she would do best in a home without cats.
