Recently, we had the pleasure of having Emory Carver complete some landscaping work for us. Not only was the finished product beautiful, but the care, attention to detail, and pride he took in his work were evident every step of the way.

Emory is currently studying Landscape Horticulture at Auburn University and is home for the summer putting his education and passion into practice.

What a tremendous difference he made for our clinic, and we couldn't be happier with the results. We are grateful for his hard work and would gladly recommend him to anyone looking for landscaping services this summer. You can reach him at 205-913-9636.

Supporting young people who are pursuing their goals and perfecting their craft is something we believe in, and Emory is a wonderful example of what dedication and hard work can achieve.

Thank you, Emory, for the beautiful work and for helping our property look its very best!

This week is Veterinary Receptionist Week, and we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible heart of our front desk.

Our receptionists are the first voices you hear and the first faces you see when you walk through our doors. They provide a welcoming presence while managing a fast-paced environment with professionalism, efficiency, and compassion. From coordinating appointments to supporting clients through both routine visits and more emotional moments, their impact is felt in every aspect of our practice.

We are truly grateful for their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to both our clients and their pets. Their work does not go unnoticed.

If our receptionists have ever made you smile or helped make your visit easier, we’d love for you to leave them a shoutout in the comments! Let’s make sure they feel the love this week 💙🐾

We have 2 very precious kittens that are looking for their forever home!

These two brothers have spent the first few months of their little lives needing lots of TLC to get them back on their feet. Now that they are in the clear with their health they are ready for their forever homes. They truly love and depend on each other and therefore we would like them to be adopted together.

If you think you have room for two sweet orange boys in your home please give us a call at 205-823-6002 and ask for Crystal or Dr. Burke.

An approved adoption application and adoption fee will be required before adopting.

Yesterday we had to say goodbye to a very special member of the AAVH family, our sweet Babygirl. 💔🌈

For over 10 years, Babygirl has been part of our clinic and our hearts. She first found us as a stray in the backyard of AAVH, and when no one came to reclaim her, she quietly claimed us instead. From that day forward, she became a staple of our hospital.

Babygirl was 16 years old and full of personality. She loved stretching out in a sunny window, supervising the day’s activities, or tucking herself away in a cabinet when she decided she needed a little space. She had a gentle way of being present - a comforting, steady soul in the middle of busy clinic days.

Our staff grew alongside her. She was there for long shifts, hard cases, laughter-filled moments, and everything in between. So many of you met her over the years and knew her as part of what made AAVH feel like home.

Yesterday we helped her cross the Rainbow Bridge with the same love and compassion she gave us every single day. While our hearts are heavy, we are so grateful for the years we were given with her.

She will truly be missed, but never forgotten. 🤍🖤

Run free, sweet Babygirl.

Starting next week, we'll once again be hosting an Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine student for preceptorship. After completing clinical rotations, 4th year veterinary students get 8 weeks of on-site, real world experience before graduation. We're always honored to play some part in helping prepare new veterinarians as they join our profession.

Blake Cole is from Leeds, Alabama, and graduated from UAB with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences before entering veterinary school. He plans to pursue a career in small animal and exotics general practice and would also like to volunteer in the shelter medicine arena. Blake has two rescue dogs, Wasabi and Nami and, in his spare time, he enjoys cooking, baking, and collecting board games.

Please join us in welcoming Blake!

✨ Looking for a Home for a Special Little Bird ✨

This sweet young canary has come such a long way. When he/she first came to us, there were signs of liver disease, but over the past few months has done incredibly well with supportive care and close monitoring. 💛

Now we’re looking for a bird-experienced home — preferably someone who has had canaries or other small birds before. It’s very important that their new family is comfortable monitoring activity level, weight, and urates closely, as subtle changes can be early indicators of liver flare-ups.

With the right person keeping a watchful eye, this little one can continue to thrive. If you have experience with small birds and are willing to provide attentive, knowledgeable care, please reach out and ask for Crystal at 205-823-6002 for more information.

Let’s find this special baby the perfect forever home. 💛
