Congratulations to the teams who graduated from Rocket Recall class on Wednesday morning in Hartland. This short, four-week class was packed with action and distraction, including a little time outside. These teams learned how to build the foundations of a really reliable recall. The handlers concentrated on teaching their dogs that coming to them is FUN. No matter if there are distractions around or their human is out of view, coming back to their person is always the best option. The progress these teams made was amazing! Great work everyone!! Keep having fun with your dogs. 🐾🐾

Congratulations to all of the dog and handler teams that graduated from Basic Manners on Monday in Pewaukee. Each week you came to class ready to learn and work with your dogs. We challenged you with many new skills and exercises and you did an amazing job. Over the weeks of class, all the teams’ skills improved along with their focus and impulse control. It was fun to see the improvement and the growth in the relationships you have with them. We really enjoyed having you all in class and hope to see you again! 🐾

Fourth in our study of canine body language is the tail. Reading a dog’s tail can be tricky because there are so many different kinds of tails depending on the breed (or breeds) of a dog. When we consider the tail, we need to evaluate it in the context of what is normal for that breed. Think about how the breed usually holds their tail. A relaxed dog will hold their tail in a way that is normal for them and may gently wag their tail. A happy dog will wag their tail in a loose and wiggly fashion either side to side or in a circular motion. If a dog does “circle tail”, that usually means that they are very happy. A dog whose interest is piqued or who is on alert will hold his tail high (or higher than normal for him) and stiff with a rigid wag. A dog who is afraid will likely tuck his tail between his legs or against his belly. When we understand the different ways that our dogs hold and wag their tails, we can better understand how they are feeling. Dogs communicate with us all the time. It is up to us to listen.

Facebook Exclusive ~ One Spot Just Became Available in the Focus Class That Started Monday, June 16th in Hartland

One spot is now available in the Focus and Control class that started on Monday in Hartland. Monday was the orientation but you won’t miss a thing because the orientation and support materials are also available online. Watch the orientation before Monday, June 23rd and you will be up to speed with everyone else.

Focus class is great for any dog who is easily distracted and loses impulse control. It is a behavior modification class that teaches you how to get and maintain your dog’s attention and assist them in exercising self-control when distracted by the movements of daily life ~ squirrels, bikes, runners and more!

Over the weeks of class, you introduced and worked on skills and exercises to help your dog improve not only his/her manners, but also, focus and impulse control. Congratulations to the teams who graduated from Intro to Therapy Dog class Tuesday evening in Pewaukee! These dogs and their handlers got more insight into what being a Therapy Team really entails and were able to get an idea if that was something for which they and their dogs would be well suited. They were also able to practice and refine skills needed to help get them ready for Therapy class or for whatever the future holds for them. Everyone did very well! 🐾

Congratulations to the dog and handler teams that graduated from Focus and Control last Monday in Pewaukee! You all did such an amazing job! Each week you came ready to learn and you rose to the challenges we gave you. It was clear that you were putting in the time at home to work on and implement the exercises and techniques you were given. Not only was there improvement in your dog’s focus on you, but your relationships with them also got stronger. We really enjoyed having you all in class and hope to see you again! 🐕
