Situated on over 30 acres in the heart of Great Falls, Great Falls Equestrian is a multi-discipline equestrian facility offering top notch training for riders of all levels, and premium care for their horses. Longtime Great Falls residents and horse community standard bearers Sharon and Harry Huber are handing the reins of the facility on Arnon Chapel Road (formerly operated as Deerfield Farm, Gre

at Falls Horse Center, and most recently as the Hubers' Stoneridge Farm) to a new team with Great Falls Equestrian. Wendy Masemer; a top level eventer, lifelong Great Falls inhabitant, and former student of the Hubers; and Lauren Dearlove; a successful trainer specializing in young horses, and formerly a beloved instructor with Great Falls Pony Club; will be taking over and are excited to carry on the long standing tradition of training young riders and fostering a love of horses in the next generation. Wendy and Lauren have a deep background in the hunter, eventing, and dressage worlds, and are proudly welcoming riders of all disciplines and levels to come train with Great Falls Equestrian. They hope to give riders a chance to experience different types of riding and competitions, and to help riders find their passion and pursue their callings.

We should giving Edwin an appreciation post at least weekly, since he is the reason GFE stays operational on any given day. But the aftermath of a multi-day horse show week always makes us realize even more just how indispensable Edwin is. Thank you for taking such beautiful care of the horses, and always putting in more time and elbow grease. Edwin, we love you!

Great last day at Warrenton Pony Show; Amelia and GGN Grand Pilot made their rated debut and could not have asked for better results! The pair were Champion in the Younger Children’s, 7th in the Classic, and Reserve Grand Champion for the Children’s. Way to go!

Back at the Warrenton Pony Show today, Phoebe and Happy put in solid rounds in the Large Children’s Pony Hunter and the Children’s Pony Medal. This was their first time in the Children’s Pony division together, and closed out a fantastic show for the pair. Keep up the great work!

Lauren’s view this week; she’s out at Morven Park International Equestrian Center as one of the instructors for United States Eventing Association, Inc. (USEA) Area II’s WoW Camp! We are happy to be sharing Lauren’s knowledge and flair with other Area II riders, although we miss her back at the barn, it’s a lot quieter right now.

Emily and the hunter crew had a fantastic time at local day at the Warrenton Pony Show! Leela, Abby, Elizabeth, Phoebe, Mila, and Amelia all put down great rides, and all walked away with well deserved ribbons. Some particular highlights were Phoebe and Happy clinching Reserve Champion in the Local Large Ponies, Mila and Wilson getting Reserve Champion in Horse Pleasure, and Elizabeth and Mango winning the award for Most Festive. Can’t wait to head back and do it again!

Proud of our kids, who after a long camp week, volunteered in the oppressive heat today at the Loudoun Hunt Pony Club Horse Trials at Oatlands, helping out our .dressage and . There is no better way to learn about eventing then volunteering at a horse trials, and what a great way to give back because of all the disciplines, eventing truly could not happen without volunteers!

First week of summer camp at GFE is in the bag! Grid work, judged dressage tests, trail rides, a mock hunter show, ba****ck time, relay races, an equitation clinic; as always, we did it all and boy, we’re tired. Special thanks to and for volunteering their time and expertise to help our students expand their horizons. And thanks as always to our favorite working students/girl Fridays .dressage and .eq, without whom camp would not have happened. We’ll be resting up until we do it again in August (if only 😂).

Our feline instructors have been helping at camp this week. Gnocchi has been doing some heavy lifting, taking charge of arts & crafts, while Spaghetti has been less hands on, chugging iced coffee and heading up movie selection. Spaghetti on her ultimate choice, Spirit: “eyebrows on horses, weird, and Bryan Adams’ soundtrack yikes, but beautiful scenery, exciting stakes, and delightful narration from one Matt Damon.”

We are all impacted and know that we want to show our support to the Long Branch family. As the community rallies, ATT wanted to assist by accepting tack donations for sale. All proceeds will be sent to Danielle.

Every horseperson's worst nightmare. We have two lovely horses at GFE we purchased from Danielle Poulsen Eventing, and we cannot say enough good things about Danielle and her team. If you are able to contribute anything, we'd love to help them get back on their feet.

Bird stepped up yesterday in a big way under the oaks, coming in 2nd in the WVBC Too Slow to Go U/S and 8th in the VEA Thoroughbred Hunter Development O/F at Upperville C**t & Horse Show! We love how Upperville celebrates thoroughbreds every year, and we feel really fortunate to have gotten to participate this year. Thanks to .dressage for these beautiful shots, and for being a part of the support crew yesterday, along with .eq. It takes a village.

Last but most certainly not least of the baby thoroughbreds is Penny. Both the biggest (tallest) and littlest (youngest) this leggy beauty handled her first event, horse show, anything like a champ last weekend! Mama Wendy wants me to trot my jumps? I don’t think so, let’s do it!!! Penny jumped around everything in the Starter division without batting an eye and received a 7th her first time out. We’re not saying Wendy has a favorite greenie, but we’re not not saying that either….

Mount number three this weekend for Wendy was Peregrine, aka Bird. Bird is a very laid back youngster, and tends to lean hunter, but he’s enjoyed the XDerbies with Wendy, so this weekend he tried out his first full fledged event. And, aside from a long detour at the water jump, which he eventually conquered, he loved it! Sixth place in his Beginner Novice division, Bird is well on his was to becoming one of GFE’s all around stalwarts.

Next we have resident baby rock star, Piper, our most seasoned eventer of the babies (aka she started her eventing career last year). This very good girl came in 2nd in her Beginner Novice division at The Maryland Horse Trials and was Reserve High Point for The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program for Saturday. Piper continues to do her part to convince Wendy that non-bay horses can be awesome too, and to reverse the chestnut mare stereotype.

Last weekend, we didn’t just school at Loch Moy; Wendy rode Emily’s Clarence around the MDHT September Starter Trials. So proud of Phoebe and Happy; they tried something new this weekend, attending the Fairfax County 4H Fair, as members of the Virginia Trotters 4H Club. We love to see our students branching out and trying new disciplines and types of competitions to build skills and experience!
