Great article! My horses also enjoy 8–12 hours of turnout each day, though in small fields or dry paddocks. We’ve had almost no injuries, and they stay happy and relaxed thanks to low stress levels, social interaction, and a controlled environment. After spending over a decade living and managing horses on the West Coast, I’ve learned how much climate influences management options. large, lush pastures and big herds just aren’t practical in many areas. But by customizing turnout setups and carefully pairing horses with compatible personalities, it’s absolutely possible to achieve low-stress, low-injury group turnout, even in smaller spaces. 🐴❤️

Researchers aimed to determine an appropriate paddock size for group turnouts.

They found that in larger pens, horses had lower plasma cortisol concentrations by 15 minutes after turnout and at 1 hour after being returned to their stalls. Additionally, horses in the smallest pens had greater agonistic and low-level threat behaviors than horses in larger pens.

🌿✨ Big News & Exciting Updates! ✨🌿

It’s been a while since I’ve shared an update — life has been full with the purchase of our beautiful property, Heritage Farm in Great Falls, now officially Legacy Hill Stables. 🐴💫

As you can see from the photos, we had an absolute blast showing this past spring, and I couldn’t be more proud of all our riders and ponies. None of this would be possible without the incredible support and patience of our clients during this huge transition into ownership at Legacy Hill. 💕

We’re so excited to see what this fall brings as we continue transforming the program and welcoming new horses and riders. The best is yet to come! 🙌✨

So many top ribbons at Swan Lake Horse show this past weekend! Well done team! 🏆🏅

As we made our way back home at 10:45pm, the show was still going strong. What a HUGE turnout, amazing venue, and my first time working 21 hours straight, late into the night!🌙🌌 I want to give a huge shout out to the staff at Swan Lake Horse Show, thank you for all your hard work!

⭐️⭐️Highlights from the Show; ⭐️⭐️

🌟Farnley Black Jacket, my fearless 5-years old pony, piloted by Kate Favaro, walked into a huge indoor arena without a warm-up option/ first show, no-schooling breaks, cold from his stall at 7:00pm, cool as a cucumber!😎 Jack, was Reserve champion in the “horse/ pony pleasure”, out of 18 and Reserve Champion in the “Easy Does it hunter”! We had no expectations, but what a testament to his brain and incredible jumping skills!
Check out Jack’s first jumping video on instagram!! Thank you, Farnley Farm for this incredible pony. I would LOVE more “Rosecroft Bellman” babies, please! 🙏

My little black beauty, Violet, enjoying a sunny day without her blanket! ☀️ I can’t believe her shiny winter coat, she hasn’t had a bath since summer 2023! 😍🤣

Violet, jumped over a 3ft fence yesterday! I think it’s safe to say she’s going to enjoy being a hunter pony.. LOL

Thank you Turner Farm Events, for hosting a lovely banquet from the 2023 show year! Many of my riders only attended one or two horse shows, but received incredible year end awards! WOW! 🤩 🏆

We are excited for the 2024 Turner Farm show series, the group wants to start showing consistently as a team! The experience has been lovely, thank again for all your support! #
