Asphalt can reach 150°F when the air is only 85°F. That's hot enough to cause burns in seconds.

Quick Test: Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds. If you can't keep it there, neither can your dog.

“Did someone say treats?” 😋

At Seneca Hill, we love using treats, praise, and positive reinforcement to help pets feel more comfortable during their visits. For many dogs and cats, a favorite snack can turn a scary experience into a much better one!

But just like Francine knows, sometimes treats alone aren’t enough. Some pets experience significant fear, anxiety, or stress at the veterinary hospital. When that happens, pre-appointment medications can help them feel calmer and more relaxed before they even walk through our doors.

When our doctors recommend pre-medication, it’s not because your pet is “bad”—it’s because we want every visit to be as safe, stress-free, and positive as possible for your pet, your family, and our team.

Pets can overheat quickly, especially flat-faced breeds, senior pets, and those with thick coats. Watch for:

- Heavy panting
- Excessive drooling
- Lethargy and/or weakness
- Vomiting

If you notice these signs, move your pet to a cool area and call us right away.

In veterinary medicine, we are privileged to celebrate some of life’s happiest moments—new puppies, kittens, successful treatments, and wagging tails. But we are also there during some of the hardest moments families will ever face.

Behind every appointment, phone call, prescription refill, and treatment plan is a team of people who care deeply about your pets. We celebrate their victories, worry about them when they’re sick, and grieve alongside families when it’s time to say goodbye.

Francine may be dressed for the weather, but behind every muddy paw print, soaked raincoat, and wagging tail has been a team working tirelessly to keep our guests safe, clean, comfortable, and loved. 💚🐾
