🎉 Veterinary Assistant Appreciation! 🐾
Over the last two weeks, we’ve been celebrating the incredible members of our Veterinary Assistant Team — and yes, they’re so amazing it took two full weeks to fit in all the love and pampering they deserve!
These rockstars are the heartbeat of our hospital. They gather essential information from clients about their pets, relay it to our doctors, explain estimates and medications, invoice, and provide important client education. They also expertly restrain and gently distract our patients with treats so the doctors can perform exams and give vaccinations safely and calmly. The list goes on!
Their cheerful, outgoing, and helpful attitudes keep our days running smoothly and our clients feeling supported. We’re beyond proud and deeply grateful to have them as part of our team. 💙🐶🐱
Please join us in showing some love to our Veterinary Assistants — they truly make a difference every single day!

It is with extreme difficulty that I write this post to share some devastating news . Lori Millard, my head technician at Norton Road Veterinary Hospital since 10/2003 has been diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia). She has been in the hospital for several weeks & has been treated with a very aggressive chemotherapy protocol. (7 days in a row of 24 hours a day chemo). The doctors expect her to be hospitalized for another 4-6 weeks. Lori is one of the strongest people that I know (literally was working full time with a hemoglobin of 5 (!) prior to her diagnosis for those of us in the medical field). She's also one of those people that can keep her sense of humor & keep a positive attitude during times of extreme stress (one of many reasons she's one of the very best techs I've ever worked with in my 32 year career). Her NRVH family is determined to help her not have to stress about the financial hardship this cancer has created. Lori will not be able to come back to work for months (devastating for all of us-she's been my work wife for 22 years. We are like an old married couple-I can raise my eyebrow & Lori immediately knows exactly what I need without me ever saying a word. Plus she's a close friend that keeps us laughing all day & makes us love coming to work. We are all lost without her). We are asking people who know & love Lori to share this post & to consider donating to her Venmo account. Even a small amount can add up with the infinite number of people Lori has touched. (I can't even count the number of techs she has trained at Norton Road & the number of clients that always request her bc she's become part of their extended family). Lori has always been one of the hardest working people that I know-she can do the work load of 2-3 people. Her work ethic, compassion & loyalty to Norton Road and her patients are infamous. I want to believe that we can help allievate the burden this illness has caused her family financially. Please consider taking the time to send a donation to Lori to help with all the missed income while she's not able to work. (If you do not have a Venmo account, you can send a check made out to Bob Millard directly to: NRVH 1111 Norton Rd, Galloway, Oh 43119).

Help Us Find Nami a Loving Home 💕
In honor of our beloved technician Helen West, we’re looking for a forever home for her sweet cat, Nami.
Nami is a nearly 2-year-old tabby with a gentle soul and a love for sunbeams, belly rubs, and bird-watching from her window perch. She’s calm, affectionate, litterbox trained, and gets along well with other cats.
Nami has epilepsy, but it’s well managed with daily medication (which she takes like a pro!). She’s looking for a home where she can feel safe and loved.
Interested in meeting this special girl? Call or stop by the hospital—we’d love to introduce you!

🕵️‍♂️ Fun Fact Friday: Spotlight on Our Frisky Ferret Friends! 🐾

If you're lucky enough to have one of these playful pals, or are considering welcoming one into your home, here are some fun and important facts to know:

🦨 Their scientific name means "stinky thief"... and yes, they do love stealing and hiding your stuff for fun!
👃 As a member of the weasel family, ferrets can emit an odor, which might put some people off. But be careful—bathing them too often actually intensifies the scent.
👥 A group of ferrets is adorably called a "business."
🥩 These little carnivores have specific dietary needs that they need to live a long, healthy life.
🐾 Super friendly and playful, ferrets thrive in pairs or small groups (2–5 is ideal).
🚫 They are not destructive chewers, and yes—they can be litterbox trained!
🩺 Annual exams and vaccines are a must to keep them protected and safe.

We’re here to help with the unique care needs of these mischievous, lovable critters. Have questions about ferret care? Give us a call 614-870-7008.
