Costumes are coming out, candy bowls are being filled, and we know some of our UAVH pets are getting ready for the big night! 👻🐶🐱

We want to see what your pets are wearing this year! Share a picture of your pet’s Halloween costume in the comments. 📸

No costume? No problem! We’ll also happily accept pictures of pets posing with pumpkins, enjoying the fall weather, or just looking adorably spooky. 🦇🍂

🌟🐾 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: MEET LISA! 🐾🌟

Today we're shining the spotlight on Lisa, RVT, CHPT, who has been part of the Upper Arlington Veterinary Hospital family since 2017!

Lisa is a Registered Veterinary Technician and serves as our Communications Nurse, a role that makes her an incredibly important part of our team and the care we provide to our patients and clients.

Lisa has also taken her passion for helping pets and their families one step further by earning her certification through the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC).

What does that mean? Lisa is a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Technician (CHPT), which means she has completed specialized training in pain management, comfort care, quality of life, and supporting families through the difficult decisions that come with caring for an aging or seriously ill pet. ❤️

But Lisa's role at UAVH goes far beyond that!

Have you ever called us because your dog has diarrhea, you're worried your pet might be having an emergency, or you're facing the heartbreaking possibility of saying goodbye to your best friend? There's a good chance Lisa is the friendly, reassuring voice on the other end of the phone.

As our Communications Nurse, Lisa helps clients navigate everything from everyday medical questions to some of the most difficult moments of pet ownership. She has a special way of making people feel heard, supported, and reassured, no matter what they're going through.

❤️ And when she's not taking care of our UAVH family?

Lisa is a supermom to three kids! Most evenings, you'll find her on a field somewhere, cheering them on and being their biggest fan. Between veterinary medicine and keeping up with three busy kids, we're not quite sure when she finds time to sleep!

Upper Arlington Veterinary Hospital is incredibly lucky to have Lisa! Her knowledge, dedication, compassion, and genuine love for our patients and their families make her such an important part of our team.

Grab the ball, find the favorite toy, and get ready to throw it approximately 347 times. 😂

Some dogs live for a good game of fetch. Others prefer the classic “You threw it, you go get it” approach. And then there are the ones who happily retrieve the ball but have absolutely NO intention of giving it back!

No matter what kind of fetch player you have, today is a great excuse to get outside, have some fun, and spend a little extra time together. ❤️🐾

IT’S NATIONAL VETERINARY TECHNICIAN WEEK!
If you’ve ever wondered what a Registered Veterinary Technician does, the short answer is… A LOT!
RVTs are highly trained veterinary professionals and an essential part of your pet’s healthcare team. You may see them during your appointment, but much of what they do happens behind the scenes.
On any given day, our veterinary technicians may be:
Monitoring patients under anesthesia
Performing dental cleanings and taking dental X-rays
Placing IV catheters and drawing blood
Running laboratory tests
Taking X-rays
Administering medications and treatments
Caring for hospitalized and recovering patients
Comforting nervous pets and helping them feel safe
Educating pet owners and answering questions
Assisting our veterinarians with procedures, emergencies, and patient care
And that’s only part of the list!
Our RVTs combine medical knowledge, technical skills, compassion, and a whole lot of multitasking to care for our patients every single day.
This week, we’re celebrating the incredible veterinary technicians of UAVH and giving you a closer look at the people behind the scrubs.
