🌈 Memory Monday: In Loving Memory of Smokey 🐾

Smokey (aka Smokey-Bones, Mr. Smokey, Pocho, Paachi, Moko, Anumaki) was more than just a dog—he was a best friend, a comforter, and a cherished family member. Rescued at age 2, Smokey lived an incredible life full of love, adventures, holiday traditions, and endless toys (his favorite being the “Hamburgler”).

He helped heal hearts, turned a “cat person” into his biggest fan, and shared the kind of bond only a truly special soul can offer. From backyard zoomies to photo shoots and family trips, Smokey brought joy every step of the way.

Now reunited with his first mom Jamie and his furry siblings, Smokey’s spirit lives on in the memories he gifted to those who loved him most.

Today, we celebrate the life of Cody — a loyal companion, devoted adventurer, and cherished member of Sylvia and Mike’s family for nearly 17 wonderful years. 🐾💛

From doggie swims and chasing deer to joyrides with his signature doggles flapping in the wind, Cody embraced every moment with enthusiasm and heart. He was always by Sylvia’s side—wherever dogs were allowed, Cody was there too, ready for a new sniff, a new trail, or a new snack (he earned the nickname “Hoover” for good reason!).

More than anything, Cody brought comfort, laughter, and love—not just to his family, but to everyone lucky enough to meet him. His spirit filled their home, and his absence is deeply felt.

Thank you, Cody, for a lifetime of memories and for the joy you brought to so many. You will always be remembered with love. 💫

Today, we remember the incredible Patch, a true companion through life’s milestones and a treasured part of the Marquis family. 🐾❤️

Adopted during their final months of college, Patch was there through it all—new homes, growing their family, and the joy (and chaos!) of many beloved pets. He was gentle, patient, and deeply loyal, especially to his best friend, Emmy. Their bond was immediate and unbreakable.

Patch brought laughter and love in the most unforgettable ways—from playful accidents in their first home to agility classes where he couldn’t resist running into a warm lap. He was smart, spirited, and full of heart—retrieving toys by name or color and always knowing just how to make his people smile.

As Matt and Ashley shared,
"I know everyone thinks their dog is the greatest (and they are absolutely right), but Patch was really one of a kind who became so embedded in our hearts and souls."

As our beloved pets grow older, their needs and behaviors begin to shift—often in subtle ways. Catching these changes early can make a big difference in keeping them happy and comfortable.

Here are some common signs of aging to look out for:

🐶 Slowing Down – If your pet is less active or struggles to get up, joint stiffness or arthritis could be setting in.

😴 Increased Sleeping – Older pets often sleep more. If they seem extra tired or withdrawn, it may be time for a wellness check.

🥺 Behavioral Changes – Confusion, restlessness, or changes in social behavior can be signs of cognitive decline.

🍽️ Appetite Shifts – Eating less (or more), weight gain, or weight loss could indicate underlying health concerns.

🚶‍♀️ Bathroom Habits – Accidents or changes in urination may point to issues like kidney disease or diabetes.
