🐾 Just a few days until NOCO Humane’s 2026 Fire Hydrant 5K! 🏃‍♀️💙

We’re excited to be part of this fun community event and can’t wait to see everyone there!

Be sure to stop by the Fort Collins Veterinary Emergency Hospital booth to say hello to some of our amazing team—and don’t forget to cheer on the FCVEH team members who will be running in the race! 🎉🐶

Come support a great cause, connect with fellow animal lovers, and enjoy a fun-filled day with us. We hope to see you there!

I'm making a difference for homeless animals in my community! I've signed up for NOCO Humane's Fire Hydrant 5K, a walk/run to help homeless animals in northern Colorado. Will you join me in helping to provide second chances to animals in need? Make a donation to me or my team at FH5K.org!

Dayze misunderstood the purpose of long leather gardening gloves and decided they were a snack instead of safety equipment. Not the little wrist length ones, we’re talking the full, past-the-elbows gauntlet edition.

After chewing and swallowing multiple pieces of leather, Dayze needed some expert help from Dr. Marchewitz, who was able to successfully remove all the glove fragments. We’re happy to report that Dayze is recovering well and on the mend!

Today’s reminder: if your dog is suspiciously quiet and your gardening gear has vanished, it may be time for a house search.

🚨Larimer County has confirmed its first rabies case of 2026🚨

Rabies is rare, but it is always serious for both pets and people. This is a good reminder to make sure your pets are current on their rabies vaccinations and to avoid contact with wildlife, especially bats, raccoons, skunks, and foxes.

If your pet has had contact with a wild animal, was bitten, or is acting unusually after a possible exposure, contact your veterinarian immediately. Signs of rabies can include behavioral changes, aggression, excessive drooling, difficulty swallowing, weakness, or paralysis.

Here are a few simple ways to help keep your pets safe:
• Keep rabies vaccines up to date
• Supervise pets outdoors when possible
• Do not approach sick or injured wildlife
• Report unusual wildlife behavior to local authorities

If you believe your pet may have been exposed and need urgent care, our emergency team is here 24/7.

The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment is reporting the first confirmed rabid animal in Larimer County this year. A bat found in the open space
