Wet food or dry food? 🍽️🐱
Ask 10 cat owners and you’ll get 27 opinions. 😹

During the hotter summer months, hydration becomes extra important for cats — and that’s where wet food can really shine. Since cats naturally aren’t big water drinkers, canned food can help add extra moisture to their diet and support healthy hydration. 💧

Dry food isn’t “bad,” though! Many cats do well with kibble, especially when paired with plenty of fresh water, fountains, or even a little wet food mixed in. The best diet depends on your cat’s age, lifestyle, health needs, and personal level of food snobbery. 😼

Signs your kitty may need more hydration:
💦 Dry or sticky gums
💦 Low energy
💦 Decreased appetite
💦 Less frequent urination

If you’re unsure what diet is best for your feline friend, contact us — we’re happy to help you sort through the great cat food debate of our time. Give us a call: 479-571-1228 🐾

Cats 🤝 Ceiling Fans
A love story absolutely no one understands except cats. 😹

One minute Fluffy is peacefully napping. The next? She’s staring at the ceiling fan like it owes her money. 👀🌀

Is it a bird?
A UFO?
A spinning portal to another dimension?
We may never know.

While most cats are content to observe their “swirly enemy” from afar, some adventurous felines may try to jump or swat at moving fans — which can quickly become dangerous. Keep tall furniture away from ceiling fans, supervise curious climbers, and always make sure your kitty has safe places to play and perch.

Because emergency room visits are a lot less fun than judging the ceiling fan from the couch. 😼

Cats may act like tiny solar-powered royalty, but even they can overheat in the summer sun. ☀️🐱

Unlike dogs, cats don’t usually pant unless something’s wrong — which means signs of heat stress in cats can be easy to miss at first. Your kitty may try to “tough it out” while quietly feeling miserable. 😿

Watch for warning signs like:
⚠️ Panting or rapid breathing
⚠️ Drooling
⚠️ Lethargy or weakness
⚠️ Vomiting
⚠️ Wobbly walking or trouble standing
⚠️ Hiding more than usual
⚠️ Bright red gums or glazed eyes

If your cat seems unusually tired, disoriented, or isn’t acting like themselves, don’t ignore it. Heat stress can quickly become a medical emergency.

If you notice signs of heat stress, contact us right away. 479-571-1228

🐱💛 International Hug Your Cat Day 💛🐱

Not all cats love hugs—and that’s okay! The best way to bond with your feline friend is by understanding their love language. Some cats are total snuggle bugs, while others prefer to sit nearby and keep things low-key.

Watch for signs of trust like purring, slow blinks, and choosing to be near you. Gentle petting, playtime, and letting your cat set the boundaries all help build a stronger, stress-free bond.

Because the best kind of love? The kind your cat actually enjoys. 🐾💕

🐾 Tick season is here, and cat owners should be aware of the dangers of “bobcat fever” — a potentially deadly tick-borne disease affecting cats.

Our very own Dr. Allen recently shared expert insight on how quickly this disease can spread and why prevention is so important. Even just a few hours with an infected tick can put your cat at risk. Signs to watch for include lethargy, fever, loss of appetite, and jaundice.

The best protection? Consistent tick prevention and limiting exposure to tick-prone areas. Early detection can save lives! ❤️🐱

🧠🐾 Mental Health Awareness Month isn’t just for us—our cats feel stress, too.

And sometimes, it comes from things we don’t even realize. 👇

Common household stressors for cats:
• Changes in routine (new schedule, travel, guests)
• Loud noises (TVs, music, construction, parties)
• New pets or people in the home
• Litter box placement or cleanliness issues
• Not enough enrichment or vertical space

Cats are creatures of habit, and even small disruptions can impact their sense of security.

What may seem minor to us can feel overwhelming to them—showing up as hiding, overgrooming, changes in appetite, or behavior shifts.

A calm, predictable environment goes a long way in supporting your cat’s mental well-being. 💛

🇺🇸🐾 This Memorial Day, we pause to remember.

To those who served, sacrificed, and gave everything—thank you. ❤️

And to the quiet moments at home—the sunbeams, the slow mornings, the comfort of a cat curled up beside you—those are the freedoms made possible because of that sacrifice.

Today, we honor, we remember, and we hold a little extra gratitude for both our heroes and the small moments that matter most. 🐱💙

🐾 Preparing Your Cat for a Pet Sitter

Cats love routine—and a new human in their space can be a big deal. A little prep goes a long way in keeping things stress-free while you’re away.

✨ Set your sitter (and your cat) up for success:
• Leave clear feeding + care instructions
• Keep food, litter, and supplies easy to find
• Share your cat’s quirks (hiding spots, favorite toys, “don’t touch me” zones 😅)
• Stick to their normal routine as much as possible
• Make sure your cat has a safe, cozy space to retreat

The goal? Familiar routine, minimal stress, and a happy kitty waiting for you when you get back. 🐱💛

May sunshine looks a little different for cats—but it still matters. ☀️🐱

Longer days and open windows can bring more than just bird-watching and zoomies… they can also introduce seasonal allergens that affect your cat’s breathing, skin, and overall comfort.

Keep an eye out for subtle changes like coughing (never normal in cats), overgrooming, or shifts in appetite and litter box habits—these small signs can tell us a lot.

A few simple ways to support your cat this season:
✔ Keep window screens secure
✔ Refresh water often as temps rise
✔ Stay consistent with flea prevention
✔ Reduce allergens with regular cleaning & air flow
✔ Add gentle playtime to match their energy

Cats are experts at hiding discomfort—early attention makes all the difference. 💛

If you notice any changes, don’t wait—give us a call at 479-571-1228. Let’s keep your cat comfortable all season long.
