We’re sending a huge thank you to our friends at Yoga Buzz for sharing their time and talent with us recently. 🧘‍♀️💙

From Downward Dog to Cat-Cow (and every other animal-inspired pose in between), it feels extra special to practice yoga while surrounded by the pets we care for every day.

Shhhhh! 🤫Seriously just be cool right now - we wanted to let you know (quietly) it's National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day!

Cats are stoic and, unfortunately, very good at hiding their ailments, so that makes it even more important that they have regular vet visits.

But if you're a cat person you know that getting them in the cat carrier, car, vet office, and touched/poked by complete strangers (rude), can be quite an ordeal. Now matter how quietly you open the cat carrier door, your little purr monsters have an inner sense they're about to go 'bye bye' in the car and not in a fun way. 🙀

Still, your cats need annual check ups including vaccines to protect them. So stay strong cat dads and cat moms, you've got this!👍

📎📃A couple of tips getting your best feline friend to the vet -

😼Get them used to being in a carrier by placing a familiar smelling blankets, cat treats, or even cat nip inside several days ahead of the visit.

😻ALWAYS transport your cat in a carrier for their safety - never carry them in with your arms/hands as it's too easy for them to scare and run out of your arms. Again, please ALWAYS use a carrier to transport your cat.

😽If you have a prescription, administer gabapentin per your vet's guidance, to help ease their anxiety.

😸Write down questions beforehand, especially if you've noticed any changes to their eating, digestion, or any concerns.

🐾And, finally, know that with all the stress of getting them to the vet, the pay off makes it worth it. Your fabulous feline will be healthier and you can stay together longer!🐾

S’cuse me gov’nuh, can I have 30 seconds of your time? My name is Tiny Tim. I arrived at Gateway Pet Guardians recently and I have quite the tail to tell.🐶

The humans here say it’s Senior Citizen Day, so they decided to highlight me, a ‘senior’ dog, but I promise ya, I don’t seem very senior. I still have a pep in me ol’ step, just a “ittl” hobble that's all. 🩼

I also have a minor liver issue requiring daily medications, but I keep calm and carry on with taking my meds. Even better, I’m not showing any symptoms of this liver disease. 💊

Besides me daily pills, I'll need regular bloodwork to keep me going but I promise to love you with everything I’ve got. No mardy pup with a scowl on its face here! 🐕

I get along with most other animals and I’m potty trained and I’ve never had an accident according to my foster mom- the gift of a cheeky old pup.

Humans also say that thanks to a generous grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization, senior dogs like me have a second chance at a forever home.🐾🎉

This is Purrl. She’s not your typical cat. Napping peacefully on your lap as you say, “awwwww. 🥹” Meh, she’ll pass. Cuddling after a long day at work that ended with “Per my last email…” No, she doesn’t have time for your drama, nor does she know what Teams is. But what she can offer is personality! She’ll teach you how to stand your ground & be exactly who you are with zero apologies. For her, that means being a sassy lil’ queen who swats you away because she needs her space, sleeps wherever she wants, & lets you clean her litter box. Lucky you! 😆🫶

Now, we know what you’re thinking. Maybe you’re the one who can turn around Purrl’s cattitude. She just needs love. Maybe so. But also, maybe not. May the odds be ever in your favor. 🫡

She’s not going to be waiting for you during walk-in hours because she has better things to do, like letting our animal care team know to BACK. UP. But come meet her anyway! 👋
