It's a damn good day to give a Freedom Ride.
Poor little fellow is missing almost all of his hair, his skin is bleeding in many places, and he's just a puppy. He's only 10 months old.
It's okay now, little fella. We got you. We named him Jennings and we'll keep everyone updated. What a horrible, painful life of neglect and loneliness he's lived so far. Sweet baby boy. This changes today. ❤️‍🩹

Please consider signing up to give $19.99/month! You'll never miss it and it will change the world for us and so many babies we bring in every day - just like Jennings: Strayrescue.org/1999

Here's Rayne, back home at Stray Rescue. She's getting some sun and lots of TLC from our COO, Andrea. Rayne is such a strong girl, we are SO PROUD of her!! We can't believe someone left her on the side of the road, she is such a beautiful gem. We will give her lots of love and time to rest. Thank you everyone for rallying around her and making this happen - THIS is what it's all about!! Strayrescue.org/Rayne

Wondering how Lucky Charm is doing on his healing journey?
...Great!
He feels so safe, so loved, and so comforted. He's showing his silly side and learning all about toys. Turns out, this guy is a total goofball! We are so happy to give him this life!! He came to us after being shot with an arrow and a bullet - someone evil's target practice. Now he finally gets to the be the puppy he was never able to be.

Update on Rayne from the Specialist.
She made it through surgery and did great, but it was a very long surgery. They were able to go in and fix ALL THREE injuries at once, and determined all injuries did happen at the same time (Great news).
Today she received:
- An FHO on her left hip
- Pins and plates were put in her right leg (the works!)
Because her fibula and tibula was an open fracture, meaning the bone was exposed to air, it is much more common for that injury to be infected. SO, instead of using an external fixator, they went with internal hardware that *might* need to be removed later, depending on the infection. She is on two different antibiotics now to help prevent that, but it could happen down the road.
All in all, today was a huge success! We'll share pictures after we go get her and bring her home!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who believes in our mission and believes Rayne deserves the best care! This was an expensive day, but she is absolutely worth it: Strayrescue.org/Rayne

It's National Volunteer Week, and BOY do we have a lot to say! We get a bit emotional thinking about these amazing humans of St. Louis.

The people who have come to Stray Rescue and found a home in us is truly inspirational. These like-minded people want to make the world better. Giving up the single most precious thing we have on this Earth – TIME – for our underdogs is so special.

Volunteers - look at all you do for us!!
• You keep our laundry bins empty, this is no easy feat! It is a lot of work and takes many hours every single week to stay on top of it.
• You are the sole reason we have Chances Resale Shop & are open every Fri - Sun
• You care for our office dogs on the weekend – EVERY weekend.
• You make the dogs in our care feel so special, so loved, so worthy. They might not have that forever home yet, but you keep their minds sharp, their stress as low as possible, and help them build their confidence.
• You take them on walks, home for the night, out to hotels, out for pup cups, for fabulous photoshoots, for warm and sudsy bath time, for car rides with the window down, for adventures.
• You help us at adoption events and fundraising events, ensuring their success.
• You are always thinking “What else can we do? What would the dogs like? What would make them feel special?”
• You make sure Santa comes, you make sure they get homemade Thanksgiving dinners, you celebrate our hero dog blood donors, you throw birthday parties…you’re magic.
• You foster our animals and give them the first home they have ever known. We wouldn’t be able to rescue many at all because our shelter is always full. You are the ones helping us save THOUSANDS more than we ever could without you.

We are so grateful and thankful for YOU. Thank you for your generosity, your willingness to go above and beyond for our animals, every single day. Thank you for helping make Stray Rescue what it is today.

Today and every day, we are so thankful for you. Please use kind, beautiful words when you talk to yourself. You are an amazing human being, saving lives - which we all know isn't easy. Give yourself a big hug, be proud of yourselves!

It's surgery day for Rayne!
She's heading out and to the Specialist. After looking at her x-rays, he's not sure if any of her wounds are older than others....if so that would change things. But we're staying optimistic both legs can be saved! Good luck little one, be strong. We already know you're brave! You little sweetie, you got this!

If you'd like to chip in, we can use your help!

This pup just has the kindest face, the softest eyes. This is General K, and he's ready for his forever home!
General K is under 2 years old, 55 lbs, and I love getting hugs. He loves to play with the other foster puppies in the house, too. He's just SUCH a nice boy, SUCH a good dog. His speckled snout is so adorable. This guy is a gem - but there's only one of him so fill out an app! Don't let him get away!

**For our super fans or those that have followed us for awhile know – last week we rescued a little dog named Katy who reminded us of Prayer. Then, Friday, we introduced you to Macon who reminds us of Lycan. And now – this is Rayne, and she is Prairie 2.0! Remember Prairie? She came in with brown eyebrows and broken legs, just like Rayne. We must be in the twilight zone because when we go in the clinic, it looks just like all of our babies from last summer. We love her already! We can't thank you enough for helping us help her, she deserves it!

Ok everyone, we have a little pup that just arrived, and she’s going to need everyone’s help!
This sweet little baby, just a mere 25 pounds, was found laying on the side of the road. Her back legs are a mess after being hit by a car and left there to die.
Luckily someone spotted her and loaded her in their car. When called, we said “YES! Bring us that baby!” She was transported here and we just took some x-rays. Holy cow.
We’re not sure if she’ll be able to keep all 4 limbs, but we’re sure going to try. We made a donate page for little Rayne and ask everyone to chip in. She’ll need to go to a specialist for her surgeries.
Her x-rays show:
- Her rear left hip has a femoral head fracture
- Her rear right leg has a femur fracture
- Her rear right leg ALSO has a tibula AND fibula open fracture
We circled the parts that are broken on her x-rays so you can see. We’re scheduling her surgery now and will keep you posted, but it’s looking like tomorrow – time is of the essence so she has a better chance of keeping those legs. More info to come, but if you are able to help this baby girl, we need it! This is what we do – what is best for the dog.

We know some will say – why would you spend so much on one dog when you could help so many others instead? But that’s EXACTLY who we are and what makes us different. Rayne is ours now, and that means we’ll do everything possible to get the best outcome for her. We need everyone to rally around this little baby with the cutest eyebrows! Strayrescue.org/Rayne

This is Maeze. She was originally found all alone in the woods, dragging her back leg. She was in a lot of pain and so lonely. Knowing her personality now, we know she must have been so scared by herself. She's definitely a people-loving dog.

But! This great girl has had an amazing recovery in a loving foster home, and she's officially ready to find her forever home!

Maeze is 3 years old, 57 pounds, and LOVES it when company comes over. She’s super energetic and very quirky and funny. She always has us laughing because she snorts a lot! This little piggy is very cute!

She's 100% crate trained, too. Maeze loves other dogs, but comes in HOT 😂, so some dogs aren't fans. But Maeze loves to play. She is super cute (did we already say that?? It's just because she's SO cute, haha!), funny and super soft coated! Apply to meet her and her foster will have you come meet this angel! She's met a few potential families, but her foster family hopes the next interested family will come to their home first instead so you can see her true personality shine. You will not be disappointed! Let's do it!

Veto is 1.5 years old and READY for his forever home! He'll take a foster home, too :)

He is currently living in a crate because our shelter is overfull! Not fair to him. Let's get him HOME!
We just had the opportunity to learn a lot about him because he was lucky enough to go on a Rovernight. The family gave him a wonderful report card - they used every inch of white space to tell him how wonderful he did, and we'd like to share that with you here so you can decide if he'd be a good fit for you!

First of all, Veto is happy, friendly, quiet, calm, playful, and cuddly. He has a great appetite and is a very smart boy. After just one day, he figured out my routine and went potty outside after that. He LOOOOOOOVES sleeping in bed and cuddling! He was an excellent cuddle buddy. Veto is the sweetest little man ever. He's overall just such a happy boy. He's curious about everything but also confident of himself and surroundings, so being in a new place was just fine with him. I live in an apartment, and he could hear all the sounds and was confused by them. So although he did do great in my apartment, he'd probably be just absolutely perfect in a single home.
He listens to directions and is so excited to please his person. He'll be really easy and fun to train - he loves it. I took him out and about and we sat outside at a coffee shop and watched the world go by together. He wanted to say hello to every person that walked by, and especially loved when passersby told him how cute he is.
This wonderful boy is ready to give kisses to his forever person! Let's get him home!
Fill out an app right here AND! .com is covering his adoption fee! How cool is that!

Somebunny special wants to wish you all a very happy Easter! 🐰
This is adoptable Jack Links. He's soooo thankful to spend the holiday in a foster home and not at the shelter. But he'd really love it if he got that special application today - the one where his forever family finds him and chooses him!
Jack Links is 4 years old, 70 pounds, male. .com is going to pay his adoption fee, too! They are covering adoption fees for all dogs and cats over 6 months old in April!

He did it!
Beckham found his family, he's going HOME! We LOVE this amazing dog. We found him on a freezing cold day in February. He was in a lot hiding from the whipping winds behind a truck. Lucky for him, he couldn't resist the temptation of Vienna Sausages and let Donna leash him up. On his freedom ride, he smooshed our Shelter Manager, Kristen. We learned he was a cuddle monster instantly. 😂
While he waited for a home we started using him in photoshoots because he's just so darn handsome! He was our Ted Drewes Inc. mascot and got to meet Kent Ehrhardt on and Bengie Molina, too!
And now, we wish this good boy well and say goodbye as he walks out, tail wagging proudly, with his new mom and dad. We love you, buddy!!
A very special thank you to .com for sponsoring adoption fees for all dogs and cats over 6 months old in April!!
