Feeling guilty because your dog is looking longingly at her food bowl? Mix a little pumpkin (unsweetened, not canned) into her dinner; it’s healthy,...

Anyone who has been to Pets on Broadway knows Tori. For the last 17 years she has been the face of Pets on Broadway. This fundraiser is for her parents who's home was badly damaged by flooding in Englewood this week. If anyone has anything they would like to donate such as cleaning supplies we can arrange to have items dropped off at Pets on Broadway.

The staff at Pets on Broadway Animal Hospital are starting this fundraiser to do what we can to help the parents of Tori Pattillo who has worked here with us for 17 years. Becky and Ray are average hardworking Americans who have lived in their home for over 30 years. They raised their children...

Too often, senior pets are euthanized or live out their final days in discomfort and loneliness in shelters because of their age. Many were once the faithful companions. Consider a senior pet for your family in honor of Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month.

We LOVE our techs! Thank you all for everything you do everyday!

In celebration of Vet Tech Week,
Ten Facts about Vet Techs we think every pet parent needs to know:

1. Veterinary Technicians are animal nurses – of every kind! Each technician is skilled at patient triage, phlebotomy and injections, x-rays, laboratory and pharmacy tasks, anesthesia, surgery, post-op recovery, and hospitalized patient care. And, they perform all of this on patients who can’t talk, don’t stay still, are often anxious, and may feel the need to bite to express fear (or worse yet, express their anal glands).
2. Licensed Veterinary Technicians must complete college-level coursework and take the Veterinary Technician National Examination to become licensed.
3. Veterinary Technicians juggle many balls at once: at any given moment, they are likely tracking down a veterinarian, taking x-rays, walking a dog, trying to patiently coax a cat out of a carrier, collecting a blood sample, communicating with clients, answering a phone call, caring for a patient, keeping up with treatments, cleaning, and helping each other - all while trying not to lose their favorite pen.
4. Veterinary Technicians ensure that the patients stay clean, dry, comfortable, walked, fed, loved, and every treatment is performed accurately and in a timely fashion. Number 3 makes this a challenge!
5. Veterinary Technicians have a dangerous job. From handling heavy animals to dealing with a variety of temperaments and diseases, they offer themselves up over and over, day after day.
6. Veterinary Technicians have an exhausting job. They lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, sprint, and kneel all day long…and “days” can be 15-20 hours long.
7. Veterinary technicians rarely stop to eat…or run to the bathroom, for that matter! They learn to turn off their basic needs while working and sneak breaks between moments of intense work.
8. Veterinary Technicians are devoted to caring for your pets and, in turn, fall in love with them. They invest their hearts and souls into their patients – and frequently experience the sadness of illness and death.
9. Veterinary Technicians rarely, if ever, will earn as much as their human counterparts.
10. Veterinary Technicians love your pets and perform superhuman feats to care for them in a compassionate and skillful manner - because they are passionate about what they do and dedicated to animals.
