Founded in 1982 as the Animal Rescue and Adoption Society (ARAS), the newly re-branded Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue is a non-profit cat shelter dedicated to providing a home, veterinary care and adoptions for homeless, abused, abandoned and neglected cats and kittens. Existing solely on public donations and fees from memberships, Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue relies on the dedicated support of its members, volunteers, staff and board members.

Viewer discretion advised. The cats remain unsupervised.

This month on Cats Gone Wild: Colony After Dark, rumors spread, alliances shift, and a late-night encounter leaves the rest of the cast lurking in the shadows for answers. There are secret stakeouts. There are whispered meowmances. And there might just be a new catshell entering the colony. Producers are calling it the most dramatic episode of the season.

The cast may look chaotic under the cover of darkness, but every cat featured here is part of our colony cat program. Many spent their lives outdoors, where survival meant keeping their distance from people. Learning to trust takes time, and progress rarely happens in a straight line.

The drama is fictional, but the progress is real. Every cat here is writing a very different story than the one they started with.

This Foster Friday, Sabrina is looking for a little magic.

Not the spell-casting kind. The forever-home kind.

This beautiful Siamese preferred to observe the shelter from the top of a dryer, where she could maintain an air of mystery and intrigue. Unfortunately for her reputation, she was never quite able to resist attention.

Sabrina's foster reports that her greatest magical power is convincing people to keep petting her. Sweet, relaxed, and endlessly affectionate, she's happiest when she's being adored.

After raising five kittens, Sabrina is ready to leave her mama days behind and focus on finally being somebody's baby. She's learned that she prefers people to cats and would love a home where she can keep all the attention for herself.

This Sabrina already has the charm. Now she's just waiting for her person.

A special big THANK YOU to Fiction Beer Company for inviting us to be part of Cat Day.

We brought 6 kittens and five of them went to their fur-ever homes from the event! We also got to enjoy amazing beer, lots of laughs and kitty chatter.

Snapple was a seven-week-old kitten who arrived at Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue (RMFR) in mid-April. Found as an orphaned newborn, Snapple was raised in one of RMFR’s foster homes where he received around-the-clock care including tube and bottle feeding.

On May 30th, Snapple’s foster caregiver rushed him to an emergency veterinary clinic after he stopped producing urine. An ultrasound revealed crystals in his urinary tract, which is a potentially life-threatening condition requiring immediate treatment. Snapple was hospitalized and started on IV fluids, antibiotics, and pain medication. He was then sedated, unblocked, and fitted with a urinary catheter to help relieve the obstruction.

Despite the seriousness of his condition, Snapple remained bright and continued eating well throughout his hospitalization. The veterinary staff began to see encouraging signs of improvement. After several tense hours in the hospital, he was released back into RMFR’s care for continued monitoring and recovery.

Today, Snapple is doing much better. His catheter has been removed and he is using the litter box normally. He has transitioned to a urinary health diet and is back to enjoying life as a playful kitten. He loves napping, wrestling with his brother Snooze, and soaking up human cuddles. He is growing stronger every day.

We are so grateful that Orphan Kitten Club named Snapple a and covered the cost of his emergency veterinary care and ongoing treatment. Thanks to their support, Snapple was able to receive the lifesaving care he needed at exactly the right time. Orphan Kitten Club saw Snapple’s life as one worth saving!

This week's Adopt a Cat Month spotlight is for the cats who come as a package deal.

Meet Finn and Aurelias, two best friends who have already been through a lot together and are hoping their next chapter includes a forever home.

Finn is the outgoing half of this dynamic duo. He greets people like old friends, launches himself into waiting hands for pets, hands out enthusiastic head bumps, and happily curls up in laps. If there's attention available, Finn plans to be involved.

Aurelias is a little more reserved. Shelter life isn't really his thing, so you'll often find him relaxing in a cozy cubby or tunnel. But once he feels safe, he's a purring lap cat who loves affection and enjoys playtime just as much as his brother.

Bonded pairs often wait longer for homes because they're searching for someone willing to say yes to both cats. But Finn and Aurelias come with something special: a lifelong friendship that's already weathered plenty of change.

Their forever home is out there. It just needs room for both of them.

Animal Rights Awareness Week isn't really about animals. It's about people.

It's about the choices we make when an animal needs help. The decision to stop and check on a stray. To report neglect. To foster. To adopt. To speak up when an animal can't.

Every cat who arrives at RMFR has a different story, but they all have one thing in common: their lives changed because someone cared enough to act.

Animal welfare doesn't belong only to shelters and rescues. It belongs to communities. It belongs to neighbors. It belongs to all of us.

If you see an animal in need, there are organizations across the Denver area working to help. Local shelters, rescues, and animal welfare groups rely on compassionate people to be the first link in the chain. Our website includes resources on animal protection services, community veterinary care, education, and support for animals experiencing neglect or suffering.

When our shelter water heater failed, we turned to our incredible community for help. Once again, you showed up for the cats.

Thanks to your generosity, we raised the funds needed to replace the water heater and keep hot water flowing for cleaning, laundry, dishes, and the daily care that helps our cats stay healthy and comfortable.

Abe has been busy embracing the bear necessities of forever home life.

Since being adopted, he's grown back his magnificent bear coat, perfected the art of pillow lounging, and fully committed to a life of comfort. His favorite activities include napping on anything soft, collecting attention from his people, and ensuring all water bowls remain filled to his exact specifications. For additional convenience, he's even secured himself a bedside water cup.

Abe may have the size and floof of a bear, but he's really just a teddy bear at heart. He loves being near his people, soaking up attention, and reporting to the front door each day for welcome-home duties.

It turns out the perfect habitat for this bear was a forever home all along.
