🧀 Gouda (aka the bestest little panther at OAR) has sadly been with us for over a year now. She’s not even 2 years old so we find that completely ridiculous! When she arrived, she was a shy and nervous baby cat. Now, she’s a thriving and much more confident young lady cat! She’s done allllll the hard work, yet it has not paid off. 💪

🏕️ Since no one has given our lovely little Gouda a chance, now through June 30th, we are sending the kitties to summer camp! Any cat that is FeLV+ (like Gouda), is currently available for adoption in a foster home, or is listed as a ‘camper’ at the adoption center is available for foster-to-adopt. This means you can foster Gouda while you are deciding if she is a good fit for your home. At the end of camp (about 30 days into fostering) you can decide if you would like to adopt or end the fostering period. If you do decide to adopt, you will pay a reduced adoption fee of $45! 🐈‍⬛

🤷 Worst case scenario, she gets a much needed break from the Adoption Center and gets to experience her first home. Best case, you fall in love and get the unmatched love and loyalty only a sleek and beautiful house panther can provide! Win, win. 🏆

🐈‍⬛ Gouda truly has the softest and fluffiest fur and you won’t be able to get enough. While you can touch most of it with your hands, she specially reserves her adorable belly for your eyes only! She’s not stingy about it though, and, since she doesn’t seem to quit rolling around on the floor belly up, we can only assume she’s bragging about it. That aside, Gouda is a super sweet girl and makes the most adorable little chirps to solicit attention. She absolutely loves attention and her charm makes it easy to give her what she wants. 😽

😻➕ Gouda has tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) and must live as an only cat or with other FeLV+ cats. FeLV+ cats can live with dogs and other animals. We also have a few other positively purrfect cats she would be happy to go home with if you prefer she has a feline buddy. OAR will cover her medical care related to FeLV (contact us for details). 🐈‍⬛💕

Our Spay/Neuter Clinic sees dozens of clients each morning, and a friendly, organized check-in can make all the difference in creating a smooth and seamless start to the day.

Our Clinic Concierge volunteers help greet clients and support the flow of morning check-in to ensure a calm, positive experience for pet owners, trappers, and cats.

⏱ 1 hour weekly commitment

Summer Camp is in Session! Our long stay cats are ready to set forth into the great unknown on their next big adventure.⛺

Now through June 30th, 15 of our longest stay cats are part of our Summer Camp special! Their adoption fees have been reduced to $45 AND they are available to go home as foster-to-adopt! This means you have the option of fostering them for 30 days while you are learning if they are a good fit for your home. Their sleeping bags are packed and they're ready to hit the trails!😻

Cali, Triplet, Darling, Scraggy Bay, and Miss Piggy are currently available for visitors in their foster homes and we would love to set up a meet and greet for you!

Gouda, Pickle Chip, Ziggy Stardust, Leilani, Genealogy, Victoria, Jane Goodall, Rosie, Bamboo, and Stevie Licks are located at our adoption center in Madisonville.

🙀 Leilani has been at OAR for over A YEAR and it has encouraged us to ask an absolutely absurd question: Does she deserve a loving home?!? The answer, of course, is an emphatic YES! 💜 And in that spirit, here is a list of 10 things we believe *Leilani* would say YES to:

1) Treats 😻
2) Talking with you about your responsibility to provide her treats
3) Petting herself on you to mark you as hers
4) Playing with toys that you dangle near her
5) Staring at you in an attempt to telepathically communicate with you about treats, and playtime, and hanging out with her 📡
6) Living in a home without other cats so she can keep a person or people all to herself
7) Boundaries and consent. Respect hers and she’ll adore you! Leilani came to us as a sort of a special behavior case, but she has had zero incidents at OAR and she welcomes being picked up by our Shelter Director and Adoption Manager for scritches
8) Treats, but listed down here as well 🤤
9) Someone who will give her a few weeks to get settled in because, let’s face it, moving is kinda stressful
10) Someone she can distract with her overwhelming cuteness while they try to work or watch TV or do anything else 🥰

Leilani currently lives at OAR’s Adoption Center and you are welcome to visit her Mon 12-7, Tues 12-3, Wed 12-7, Thur 12-7, Fri 12-7, Sat 12-3, and Sun 12-3. 💜

Let's Go Camping! All our cats in foster and who are FeLV+ want to go camping in June. What does that mean? Cats like Triplet can come visit you for 30 days as foster to adopt. You can get to know them and see how they fit in your home. This has been one of our most successful promotions in the past, so we brought it back. Triplet just turned one, so he's looking for a home with any kind of animal friends and people willing to carry him and provide a snuggly lap.

Sometimes, feral and semi-feral cats find themselves in shelters. One minute they're free, and the next, they're in a cage, closer to humans than they ever wanted to be. TNR is not an option in every community, and sometimes, even when it is an option, their previous outdoor home is no longer safe for them.

We're cat people, and we just "get" cats. We take pride in ensuring we treat every cat as an individual and give them the opportunities they need to thrive. But we know when we're asking for too much, and asking cats to become something they're not just isn't something we're going to do. For most of these cats, traditional indoor life is utterly terrifying. They may get by, but we know they aren't living their best life.

So instead of forcing them into a life of fear and uncertainty, we match these cats with barns, stables, breweries, workshops, greenhouses, nurseries… anywhere they can live safely, on their own terms. They get shelter, regular food, and the "love from a distance" that they thrive on. And they repay that kindness by putting in the work on an important job: keeping rodents away.
