This past weekend I had the honor of handing DVM360.com
Fetch Hero awards to two deserving professionals, as well as nominating and honoring an early influence in my veterinary career. It was such a great time at the Heroes luncheon.
💪First I got to honor Danielle DeCormier who won Veterinary technician Hero. She has spearheaded education for all techs and assistants at MedVet across the entire organization and is invaluable to enhancing patient care.
💪I then got to pass the torch to Courtney Campbell as this year’s Hero in Surgery. Courtney is doing an amazing job educating and spreading the message of veterinary surgery on social media and recently opened his own surgery practice in Long Beach, bringing his skills to an area in need of them. His community is so very lucky to have him!
❤️And lastly, I got to nominate and see Julie Levy win the hero award for feline medicine. When I was 18 years old I volunteered for her program at the University of Florida Vet School called operation catnip, which is mass spay and neuter of stray community cats to help with humane depopulation of unwanted cats. Because of this program over 100,000 cats were spayed and neutered. And it was the first time I got to express cat bladders since I worked the bladder emptying station! 🤣🤣 Early influencers like her play such an important role in career development and I’m thankful for having such an experience early in my life.
Congratulations everyone and thank you to The Adam Christman Show for organizing this amazing honor!
