This Wednesday is D day. I've seen quite a lot of these lil critters lately... so let's talk about Dachsunds!
Dachshund is a German word meaning 'badger dog', Bred to dig into badger dens and chase them out, Dachshunds are brave, smart and vigilant. They can be standard-sized (usually 16 to 32 pounds) or miniature (11 pounds or under), and come in one of three coat types: smooth, wirehaired, or longhaired. Now affectionately known as "hotdogs" or "weinerdogs" these feisty little hunters are mostly just lap dogs.

Who else spends each day trying to be the person their dog thinks they are!? I know I sure do!
Dogs keep us grounded, they show us unconditional love, they remind us to exercise, they help us to see the beauty in the world around us!
Here are some ideas for thanking your dogs for all they do today and every day

This cutie pie is Wrangler. He won the life lotto and won big! This little dude somehow found himself on the side of our local bypass and was rescued by a family who rushed him to the ER. There they realized that he had a badly fractured leg but was otherwise in good health! This wonderful family had fallen in love already and decided to do the surgery to fix his little leg! Dr Campbell did an FHO and placed a teeny pin in in the tibia fracture, neutered him and now he’s recovering with us for a few days! We are all in love with this kiddos spirit! His purrs are so sweet considering what he’s been through in his short lil life! We are so happy for this guy, we just had to share his story!!

Our Wednesday breed highlight is bringing us TWO beloved breeds this week, as I was promised to be disowned if neither was chosen! 😅🫣 (just kidding… sort of)
So our C breeds for this week are Chihuahuas and Cocker Spaniels!

Cocker Spaniels have long been one of America’s favorite breeds! As the smallest member of the sporting dog group, they are great bird dogs. Cockers are trainable, energetic and loving companions and in full show coat might just be the prettiest dogs around.

Chihuahuas are Tiny dogs with huge personalities! They are loyal, charming and have big-dog attitudes. They tend to bond closely to one person and are not the best with kids due to their size, fragility and let’s be honest, their attitudes! 😎

It’s Wednesday already!?! Time for another Breed!!! Today is B!
I chose the Basset Hound for this week’s Breed Spotlight! Mostly cuz I can’t with their ears!!! But let’s learn about them together…. Bassets are friendly, sweet tempered, short legged, long eared Scent Hounds. They were bred originally to hunt rabbits. Moving slowly enough that horses weren’t required for the hunt! Bassets make great family dogs! They are known to be gentle, loyal and affectionate! The caveat being their stubbornness! Sounds like that just adds to their personality if you ask me!!!
Now enjoy the pictures of Libby and Mabel, two beautiful bassets that belong to the daughter of one of our employees!!!
