It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since Kylie joined our team as a veterinary assistant! She came to us with just 7 months of experience and has grown so much in such a short time.

Kylie has developed a true passion for helping pets feel at ease during their visits. Everyone give a big round of applause to Oakley, our brave girl of the day! 🐾💛

Oakley is a 7-year-old Rottweiler mix who came in yesterday feeling under the weather with some vomiting—and understandably, she was pretty nervous. But this sweet pup showed incredible courage and pushed through her exam like a true champ! 🐶✨

With gentle encouragement, Oakley let our team take great care of her, and we couldn’t be more proud of how well she did.

Way to go, Oakley! You're stronger than you know, and we're honored to award you your well-deserved Certificate of Bravery! 💪🎉

🌟 A Bittersweet Farewell to Cindy & Emma, LVTs 🌟

It’s hard to put into words just how much these two incredible women have meant to our clinic. Recently, we said goodbye to Cindy and Emma, two extraordinary Licensed Veterinary Technicians, as they take bold steps into the next chapters of their careers — and lives. 💙

After over two amazing years, Cindy is heading off to Veterinary Medicine School! She brought not only skill and knowledge, but heart, humor, and true friendship to our team. We will miss her compassion, quick wit, and the love she gave to every patient (and coworker). We’re cheering her on every step of the way and can’t wait to one day call her Dr. Cindy! 🩺🐾

And after nearly five years of dedication, Emma is spreading her wings too. From starting as a brand-new veterinary assistant to becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician in TWO states, Emma has grown into a true force in veterinary medicine. Her Fear Free knowledge, kindness, and contagious laughter made every shift brighter. The clinic will definitely be a quieter place without her — but her impact will last a long time. 🌟

We are beyond proud to have been part of both of their journeys and look forward to watching them soar as they chase their dreams. Cindy and Emma, thank you for everything. You’ll always be a part of our clinic family. 💖

🐾 Meet the Team Monday: Dr. Aimee Shields, DVM, CVMA 🩺

Originally from southwest Pennsylvania, Dr. Aimee Shields grew up with a love for animals and a fascination with medicine — making veterinary care the perfect path. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a focus in mixed animal practice and spent several years working in New Hampshire before moving closer to family and joining the Barker Animal Hospital team. She brings with her a strong passion for compassionate, high-quality care and is also certified in Veterinary Acupuncture (CVMA).

Dr. Shields has special interests in dentistry and surgery, and she loves seeing the dramatic improvements in her patients' health after treatment. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys hiking, biking, cooking, and spending time with her family — including her sweet rescue Chihuahua, Lucy. We’re so excited to have her on our team!
