Warmer weather is here and next week is forecasted to have extreme temperatures, consider shorter walks and avoiding paved surfaces to protect their paw pads.
Brachycephalic breeds (flat faces like French Bulldogs, pekingese) are also susceptible to overheating very quickly and shouldn’t be let out in high temperatures except to potty.
And most importantly your pets should always have access to fresh and clean water.

This week is National Dog Bite Prevention Week.

Did you know that each year more than 4.5 million people in the U.S. are bitten by dogs? Dogs of any size, breed, and age can bite if provoked. Avoid this by paying close attention to a dog's body language and behavior, knowing when to leave a dog alone, and never leaving children unattended with a pet.

Visit vbspca.com/dog-bite-prevention/ to learn more.

April is Pet First Aid Awareness Month. Emergencies happen when you least expect them, so it’s a good idea to have a first aid kit on hand. If your cat has been injured or is experiencing a medical emergency, call your veterinarian before attempting any first aid. Always speak with your veterinarian before starting any therapies at home.
