Good morning everyone.
We invite you to visit our Adoptable Pets wall located next to the reception desk during your next clinic visit or drop by. Our wall features dogs and cats of various sizes. We collaborate with numerous rescues that occasionally struggle to find foster homes for dogs, resulting in boarding expenses. We strive to assist these rescues to the best of our abilities, but the costs can be substantial for both the rescues and our organization.
If adoption or fostering is not feasible, please consider donating to support our cause.

Below, you will find a list of acceptable donations as well as available pets. For inquiries, please contact us at 706-353-2696.

All pets are spayed/neutered and vaccinated, with some available for sponsorship. Another valuable contribution is providing dog or cat enrichment. Due to limited staff, we are unable to engage in play with every dog and cat. If you have free time, feel free to drop by and play with our dogs, cats, or kittens.

The Central and Eastern US are currently under a Moderate Heat Advisory with the National Weather Service describing within hour urgency to prevent threat to life and property. As a result— we wanted to share and emphasize potential harm your pets could face in these conditions 🐶🐱☀️

⚠️ Hot pavement: place your hand on the ground for a couple of seconds — if it’s too hot for you it’s definitely too hot for your pet. Pavement can be almost 40° hotter than the air temperature and can burn the soft paw pads of our pets. Instead, walk animals during cooler times of the day, in the grass, or with pet specific boots that can provide a protective layer between pavement. 🔥

⚠️ Heat stress: dogs and cats can’t sweat like we do to cool down. Instead, they pant. Because of this, our pets are more susceptible to heat-related illness. Heat exhaustion consists of fatigue, weakness, vomiting, and diarrhea. Animals can still have normal temperatures and dehydration during heat exhaustion but pet temperatures exceeding 104° are when more serious symptoms occur such as seizures and organ dysfunction. Giving pets a cool place to reside as well as replacing water constantly can help prevent heat stress and dehydration. If you think your animal is experiencing heat stroke take them to a Vet immediately ‼️

❗️Pets that are overweight, have a flat face, are elderly, and/or have a heart/lung disease (like heartworms)!! Are more susceptible to heat stroke.

Our boarding friends have been cooling off at the clinic with monitored kiddie pool time!!! 🐶💖 (Always remember to keep watch of your pets around pools - drowning can occur in any depth of water).

Update: Thank you to everybody who shared, the owners have been found ❤️

‼️FOUND DOG‼️

This morning we found a 9.2lb Tri-Colored Male Chihuahua mix in the middle of the road right in front of the practice (1785 US-29, Athens, GA 30601). No microchip or collar. Unfortunately he was deceased. We will not be posting a picture of said dog due to the circumstances but if you think this maybe your dog please send us a picture & we’d be happy to confirm! If the dog is not picked up by 7/14 then he will be sent for communal cremation. Please spread the word in hopes to find his family & give them some kind of comfort ❤️

Well, here are some good safety tips! 🐶🐱

So many animals get lost during the 4th of July due to Fireworks, the biggest thing is making sure your pet is inside and has anxiety medications on board incase they need them!

Make sure that your pet is microchipped just in case they do slipped out during all the 4th of July fun

It's been VERY hot outside so make sure your pets have plenty of water & shade during this time!

All of our spots are provided by hosts, landowners that choose to share their land with dog owners.
