Please join us in congratulating our feline Pet of the Month:
🐄Dennis🐄
Dapper and gentlemanly are the best ways to describe this sweet fellow.

Here is what Dennis’ human has to say about him:
“For the past several years, Dennis has been a strong competitor for the title of ‘Sweetest Boy in All the Land.’ With a face that launched a thousand ships, this senior citizen came to his current home after his previous owner passed away, and while he spent weeks sad and anxious, he’s since learned to love again — and love he does. Dennis has never seen a lap that he wouldn’t jump in, and he seizes every opportunity to be the little spoon. He’s spent a lot of time in the office recently with a recent kidney disease diagnosis, but that’s just given him an opportunity to share his sweetness with more folks. What a guy.”

“Even the smallest person [or dog] can change the course of the future.” — Galadriel, LOTR

Here is what Bobo’s human has to say about him:
“At the ripe age of 12 years old, Bobo’s favorite hobby is to curl up in a soft blankie with a good bone. But don’t let his seniority fool you, he’s still a spritely, fiesty lil guy that will greet you with all the volume of his Dachshund ancestors. He’s all bark and no bite, though, especially on account of the mere seven little teeth he’s got left.

He came into my life when I was 15 years old, and he has seen me through high school, college, moving out of state, starting my career, and my first love. He’s become just the biggest Mama’s Boy for my girlfriend, but he’ll always be my baby.”

RABIES ALERT: On Sunday, March 8, 2026, an ACCGov Animal Services Department officer responded to a call of a cat that was behaving aggressively in the area of Westwood Avenue in Bogart off Atlanta Highway near the Athens-Clarke County/Oconee County line.

The officer captured a domestic shorthair breed community cat that was white with tabby spots. After further evaluation based on its behavior, Animal Services staff sent the cat for rabies testing to the University of Georgia. Testing has confirmed that the cat was rabies positive.

Rabies is primarily spread to humans or animals through bites and scratches of an infected animal. Symptoms of rabies in animals may include fear of water, excessive salivation, failure to eat or drink, limping, unusually friendly or aggressive behavior, and/or other atypical behaviors such as nocturnal animals emerging during the daytime. The disease is nearly always fatal to humans if they are infected and do not receive prompt post-exposure treatment.

Any persons who interacted with a white cat with brown tabby spots in the Westwood Avenue and might have been exposed to the rabies virus should contact a healthcare provider for guidance. Owners of pets that had any similar interactions should contact their veterinarian for further guidance.

Pet owners should be sure that their pets are current on rabies vaccinations. Residents who ever observe stray animals or wildlife acting in an aggressive, sick, or unusual manner should report it to the Animal Services Department at 706-613-3540 or call 911 in an emergency situation.

For more information about rabies, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website at www.cdc.gov/rabies or the Georgia Department of Public Health’s website at dph.georgia.gov/environmental-health/rabies.

The Georgia Poison Center is also available for rabies consultation 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 800-282-5846 statewide. https://www.cdc.gov/rabies

In true kitten fashion, this sweet, spunky boy keeps you on your toes.

Here is what Bean’s human has to say about him:
“Bean was adopted from Barrow County animal shelter and now lives in Clarke County with his two brothers and dad. He spends his days loving and nibbling on his family members, sinking his teeth into pizza boxes and dragging them through the house (only to help with recycling of course), and bringing his evenings to a close by playing with his cat nipped stuffed mouse around 3am. Bean’s future endeavors include hopes to eventually shake fins with some of the fish in his dad’s tanks and sleep on top of the refrigerator.”

You can’t help but smile when this sweet boy walks in! As you can see, his smile is one of a kind! ❤️

Here is what Chester’s humans have to say about him:
“Chester is one of those perfectly unique dogs who appears in your life at the most unexpected moment. He’ll be 16 this March and has been keeping his parents on their toes since the first week he came home and informed us he belonged here. His introduction to Dr. Howard at Boulevard was 15 years ago after he escaped the back fence and tried to play tag with a neighbor’s car. True to form he came out of that with nothing but some road rash and a few bruises. For years he’s been a houdini leading his parents to always have an airlock system in place at home and the tallest fence they can find. He has the finely refined skills of being unbothered as only an introverted dog who spent 12 years with an Australian Shepherd sister can develop- especially now that his hearing is even more “selective”.

He loves greenies and cuddles(especially with ear scritches from mom right behind his left ear), hates getting his ears wet in the rain and baths. He’s a bed hog who will kick you in his sleep and then give you
side eye for daring to move- he was using you as a pillow. He may start off a little aloof with new people but as soon as you bribe him with enough treats he will sit on your feet and be your most devoted fan....until he hears a crinkly treat bag from someone else. He is the
most precious underbite boy and it has been so wonderful to love him all these years. He is our bestest boy and we appreciate everything everyone at Boulevard Animal Hospital has done for us all to keep him still zooming all over at this age. Here’s to even more adventures with our Chester Bear!”
